Lil spit ain't going to hurt nothin.
I'm guessing you spit on the floor of your living room? Probably doesn't bother your dirt floor, but my cloth and my rug are wool...and I have manners.

Maybe you should move this one to NPR Maha….the real place to use spit is on the top of the tip as it starts to get hard. spit is a meat tenderizer.
Truthfully, you deserve it.CA glue seems to be brittle. After a few hits, it started chipping... Help!
I'm wondering if you don't need a tip replacement? I've had Triangles that are just inherently fuzzy like that and there's not much you can do about it. Get a good tip and burnish it with leather/spit and it should stay smooth on the sides for a long time.I get it makes the edge dark black, but I don't see how this would keep leather from fuzzying..?
I do the spit and leather , then use a black magic marker on it .The point is: I have no problem getting it very shiny with only spit or water. But it tends to fluff up rather quickly. I love to have the burnished tip look, how can I get it to stay like this longer. (Kamui clear black)
A little oil from the side of my nose or behind the ear , no wait, that's for my fishing pole.Any products you use for burnishing the sides of the layered tip and keeping it that way a "long time" ? I have a "lathe".
Tiger tip burnisher - It does nothing more than spit to me
Gum trag - Doesn't seem to last much
Tokonole - never tried but it's a well know burnisher with natural waxes in it
Renaissance wax?
Car wax?
Nail polish?

EDIT. THE QUESTION IS : WHAT WILL MAKE THE BURNISHING LAST LONGER?
Superstition would be using only a 100 dollar
I use the cloth on the top edge of the rail over the rubber. Warming the leather and getting it to shrink and harden. It Doesn't hurt the rail. I did however have one of the ladies at the senior center protest. She thought it was hurting the table.don't polish the cloth.
I use only the hard (non-cloth) rail surface. Works great; no cloth issues.I use the cloth on the top edge of the rail over the rubber.
Funny you mention that, as I'll occasionally do that too, buff the edge of the tip against the rail cloth. I think it worked better back in the days of napped wool cloth such as Brunsco, and not quite as good with today's more popular Simonis, Championship, etc.I use the cloth on the top edge of the rail over the rubber. I just made sure that lady wasn't around when I did it thereafter.
I can imagine the senior center lady if I did that on the wood of the rail. Probably would call 911.I use only the hard (non-cloth) rail surface. Works great; no cloth issues.

It's handy quick and harmless. Standing at the table just dampen the perimeter of the tip and burnish it. Don't need to dig into the vault for money nor trapse to the bathroom for a paper towel. Of course I could dig into my pouch and use the back side of the sandpaper I always have there. Just quick and easy is my excuse. So many ways to burnish a tip, I can't figure out why anyone would choose to use the pool table, whether it does damage or not.
Same here...or any bill, for that matter. Been doing it that way for over 30 years with all types of tips. I wet the edge of the tip, wrap it in a bill and roll it on my thigh while pinching the sides of the tip. Doesn't take long at all.I use that method with a $20 bill. Superstition?
I just realized how obscene that sounded.Same here...or any bill, for that matter. Been doing it that way for over 30 years with all types of tips. I wet the edge of the tip, wrap it in a bill and roll it on my thigh while pinching the sides of the tip. Doesn't take long at all.
I bet she'd calm down without you calling 911.I can imagine the senior center lady if I did that on the wood of the rail. Probably would call 911.☺
