This cue was Burtons personal playing cue. Here is a quote from Joel Hercek, with a little info about it.....
Steve

"Yes this was Burt's personal playing cue, he stored it at the IL Billiards Club http://www.bonniesdiningandbanquets.com/index.php?content=home where he was a member. I went there with him during our training and he introduced me to Jim Parker, the owner. I remember us enjoying some of the best Vanilla Ice cream I've ever had, I believe it was call Peterson's Brothers Ice Cream. In any event, Burt played Billiards at the club, that was his favorite game. I did play pool with Burt a few times, however Burt did not like to play pool with people because he told me he hated to sit and wait between shots. Fortunately for Burt, I was not a great player, so he never had to sit long. When he did play pocket billiards, he preferred straight pool. The reason we went to the IL Billiard Club that day was to pick up his cue which he had stored there in a locker. (the very cue you own now) I'm sure Burt, through out the years had a few cues, however he never talked about any of the others, this is the only cue I've know him to use. I know he loved the cue and would be thrilled to see someone adding it to their collection. I have a photo of that cue along with several other significant Spain cues, I'll find it and e-mail to you, I'm also going to put that photo on my site in the Spain section."

Take Care

Joel

Beautiful cue and nice story. I'll give this link to Jim Parker who I saw Wednesday night at the Illinois Billiard Club. He mentioned that ice cream to me recently. He said they were going to be carrying it again and that it is the best.

Dennis, can you send me a double scoop cone?

That cue is GREAT Steve!!!

My God..............I tell ya what..................Illinois Billiard Club, Burton Spain, Joel Hercek, Jim Parker, Petersons Vanilla, that cue, and probably some piano music in the background while playing on their antique 5' x 10' table. The only possible thing missing in that pocket billiards fantasy evening is some beautiful woman sitting watching you play while run 150 and out!!!!!!
