Hey Jam. It's kind of funny how you were mentioning about someone making a few post. Stopping for a long while. Then making some more. I don't really post anymore, and I am fitting that bill right now.

In my younger days, about 12 years ago I liked to be an ass and mess around in chat rooms, message boards. Things of that nature. I'm well passed that, but still know how.

On any message board they can really only delete screen names, and could block accounts from opening from an E-mail address. So with that being said, as many E-mail accounts you have is as many names you can have. (Note: A message board doesn't have to limit only 1 screen name per E-mail account.)

At the end of the day just know that if people are smart, and savvy enough you can do just about anything you want on here. Worse is the fact that you don't have to know how to do anything on here. Just smart enough to know where to look. How to "destroy the internet" is ironically found on the internet.

But you see, Mike, I can pull up your forum name and search for the 200-plus posts you have made, read about the subject matters that interest you, learn a little about your personality from what you have written in the past.

Are you from Southern California? You liked Ronnie Alcano to win the U.S. Open a while back, even though you were pulling for "USA, all the way."

You're okay in my book! :D

Funny, I didn't have a clue I ever posted that much. I picked Alcano because he had just left so cal, and gave some of our best crazy weight and won.

And yes i live in so cal

I do have a question for you though Jam. What you just described would be kinda stalking isnt it? lol

I don't consider reading somebody's posting history as stalking.

If I followed you from here on in, every single post you made on every single thread you particiapted on and replied to all of your posts, yes, I would be stalking you.

I had never even heard of you until this thread. Sorry.

Allow me to clarify.


I have a couple of nuclear options.

I can get a "block" ban and a whole chunk of IP's will be down the tube. Effective, but also wipes out alot of innocents along the way.

AOL is a prime example, because they share IP's.

Now, I could write a complaint to the backbone provider about an offending IP...since it was the original source of the poster and ......poof.

Like it or not, most of them will instantly drop a customer for a TOS violation.....imagined or not. They simply don't have time or patience to deal with petty problems and will drop the offender rather than deal with them ( or a possible lawsuit ). If someone were to think they could ruin my day by re-registering and posting, wouldn't that be a harsh last laugh? Getting dumped by their IP.

Just a nod and a wink to the people who might think they got me where they want me.
 
I don't think my post was taken as saying that the mod's don't have effective weapons to work with, but I will clarify just in case. I wanted to clear up the common misconception that we repeatedly hear on here to just ban someone's IP, as it just isn't that streamlined and easy unfortunately. Fortunately though, the mod's can be and have been very effective using other methods to ensure that someone does not return, or that if they do, that it does not last very long. That is one area that the mod's have always done a great job with IMO.

That wont always really happen. ISP's have even gotten letters from the RIAA for IP's that downloaded music, etc. and the ISP's FORCE the government to give up that certain IP address and the person associated with it. It would take a pretty serious problem for the ISP to drop the offender.

What is unsettling is seeing the REGISTRATION dates that some of the "banned" ones joined this forum.

For example, Charliel registered in November 2006, made two posts.

He didn't resurface until yesterday -- July 2008 -- and made 14 posts.

He had 16 posts altogether and was soon banned.

For somebody to create multiple identities on a forum, saving them for future use, is just plain sick. In fact, the more I think of it, the more I am beginning to recognize some other multiple identities on this forum, i.e., words spelled wrong, writing style, et cetera.

Just because you type everything in all caps or all lower case doesn't hide every single little characteristic.

You are correct. charliel is somebody that probably all of us have traded posts with before he "came" back to post again just for the sole purpose of starting crap on the boards.
 
No I DONT know it all, but in thread you say to the members that they should contact other people about charliel threatning to kill members but then you say you will call a persons ISP for making up numerous usernames and/or changing their IP addy's. I'd say the member thats throwing threats is more dangerous than the one making up usernames.

I'm an admin and have been a mod on numerous other boards (one with 20K members at one point) and a much smaller one so yea I do know a thing or two about what you can or cant do on a message board.

I'm not here to fuss and fight about the issue, I'm just here trying to help out and let you know that even with an IP ban members CAN come back.

You've already stated you know who CharlieL is, and assured that he has been dealt with appropriately (appropriately apparently meaning that that username was banned). But, we've seen no indication that the dangerous CharlieL, who Varney has seen stick guns in peoples faces on multiple occasions, has in anyway been deterred from carrying out his threats against forum members. Rather, you seem content to sweep the matter under the carpet, and issue language which seems to make a mockery of the seriousness of CharlieL's threats. So, I must conclude that you are either grossly irresponsible; or, that you have objectively concluded that this dangerous character Varney has warned us about is innocuous. I choose to believe the latter. In fact, I believe you would not dismiss CharlieL's threats and Varney's warnings unless you knew, beyond a doubt, they were fiction, and that CharlieL, as a breathing person, does not exist. (That is a compliment to you, Mr. Wilson!) CharlieL must be, therefore, the product of a sadly disturbed KV camp, I conclude.

I thank your nonchalance for helping me resolve this matter. . . And this shall be my last post on this generation of KV threads.

This is once again an attack against me...and not the first by you either. You apparently are trying very hard to make Mr. Wilson force his hand. He has made it clear I am in no way CharlieL...period. You must be quite a fan of mine since 30 of your 33 posts are about me. Enough is enough already.

All this nonsense about pressing charges against internet posts. Hell, KV could press charges against some people for whats been posted here too. Even I was threatened, but I grew up years ago, and laughed it off. Hell, everyone was even talking about their military backgrounds and flexing their 'e-triggers' before. "You wouldn't be able to get close enough to me." Well then its a good thing you're a computer screen away from me now isn't it?

The guy's been dealt with, AZ is fairly moderated, Mr.Wilson and AzHousePro are not your phone books.

I seriously think you guys need a hobby, like ACTUALLY SHOOTING POOL!

Now IIRC its The Hitman's Birthday today. Thorsten Hohmann is cool. It should be a good day. I wish him a happy birthday.

If you feel threatened, call the police.


Smugness or not, you have all been instructed to play cops and robbers somewhere that wants that crap.


It is not welcome here...and if that is the game you want to play, then you are by default, not welcome either.
