Calling All Tim Scruggs Fans to eBay Listing.

Saw these on eBay and had to share here. I'm sure the price will go up a little bit, but dang. These are beautiful.
Hope someone from the community here gets them. And no, I have no financial interest in the auction. -Z-

The shipping is a con. They are asking $20.00 for standard first class shipping. Fair shipping should be from $2.61 to $6.20 for priority. That stuff just rubs me the wrong way and causes me not to bid on many things.

I am pretty sure the seller is a respected member of the AZ community. You might want to hold off on any potshot comments.

I doubt that because the seller is a respected member... would change his opinion
(or mine) that the shipping is a rip off lol. But, hey, to each his own... And it probably would not stop me from buying them because they do look sweet.

Obviously, you missed my point. It wasn't about changing an opinion but rather about not publicly calling out an AZer for attempting to sell something. If the shipping is too expensive, than don't bid on the item or buy it.....Calling it a "con," crosses the line, because "a con" could be a criminal act. AZ has a "For Sale" thread, where there are a lot of cues that are overpriced, but readers keep comments about pricing to themselves. It's a matter of decorum, which should be extended in this case since the seller is an AZ member in good standing. After all, no one is forcing anyone to buy or look at anything.
All said, you are right on one thing: "They do look sweet."

Pretty sure these are from az member, ScotJoe and he is a great guy to deal with.

The way ebay fees used to be structured, a seller could sell items with lower prices and make up some on the shipping which ebay didn't charge anything on. For quite some time, that has changed and they take their % on everything, final price plus shipping.

I think, and as jmonche pointed out, you should simply look at the whole picture, item price and shipping cost, and decide if whatever you're looking at is a good value.

best,
brian kc

Seller even states:
"This Auction is open to all countries.
Twenty dollar cost of shipping and handling covers shipping to all countries on this planet."

Flat rate and ships world wide...
Sounds good enough for me.

Pretty common for sellers to overstate shipping cost. The ebay calculator is often low, in my experience.

Seems pretty simple to deal with, from buyer perspective: if they are worth 40$ to buyer, then one would have to to a little math- actually, not math...just arithmatic- to figure how muc to bid in order to stay within comfort zone.

A 'con' is not necessarily a criminal act. In fact, the term 'con' in the connotation that you are using it comes from the word 'confidence', as in 'confidence man', shortened to 'con man'. This was because unscrupulous people would play on the confidence/trust of their victims. Many times this would be a series of events where the con man started with small promises on which he delivered, creating profit for his eventual victim.

In the case of the reply in this thread which has bundled your britches, a 'con' is simply a 'negative', something which, when weighed against the positives (or 'pros') will have an effect on the decision.

As for the seller, he should be aware of the perceived negatives of his product/listing. Realizing and addressing these would likely be a boon to his business.

As a pretty regula ebayer, i dont think the practice of inflating shippin cost is a negative.

One would hope that any potential purchaser had a base level of awareness that permits consideration of both item and shipping costs, when determining how much to pay for an item that is purchased online and requires shipping.

I am not going down this rabbit hole over semantics :D Call it what you want. It's just not a good thing to do either way. Leave the guy alone so that he can sell his joint protectors.

What got my interest is, they have sold a few in the past that sold for more then a $100.00 and the shipping was $5.00. These are the first ones with the $20.00 shipping. ???????

Why don't you email him and ask him, rather than turn this into a debate over fair and unfair pricing? The guy's an AZ member who sells stuff on this forum. Obviously, you don't understand that part.

If you know how to look up historical sales by a specific seller, than you are too smart to get a lesson on pricing and balloon squeezin and fair market value.

It's dead accurate, it bolts into the shipper web engines and prints out live labels on the fly. eBay even gets a nice discount from them all.
