Can Archer make a difference?

i hope earl gets a sport on the team. would be legendary to see him play while the english fans go for the youuurope battlecry

earl will never ever again play in the mosconi cup. Sad but true. Sorry to stomp out anybodies hopes of him joining up but he's done with matchroom.

says who....

I can tell you a little story about Earl
It was in Cardiff World 9 Ball Champs and he was playing Steve Davis the multi titled snooker player.
The match was going out live on television when someone in the crowd upset him and he erupted......as he sometimes does.
Referee Michaela Tabb told him to calm down but Earl tol her to keep her mouth shut
In the middle of all this Steve walked out of the arena causing Earl to flare up again. This only heightened the tension. But after a 15 minute interruption play started again.
Meanwhile in the Tournament Office the lovely Sharon was incensed by his rudeness to Michaela. That’s it. Earl will never play for Matchrom again!

Five minutes later her boss Barry Hearn walked in
Wow! The best 15 minutes of pool that I have ever seen.Make sure that he is in everything next year

Do you mean he is done with Matchroom or Matchroom is done with him?

I don't have any specific info, but I suspect they don't want Earl "The Burl" to ever participate in The Mosconi Cup ever again. People say "Earl sells", but I don't think Matchroom thinks Earl sells, at least not in their market anyway.

Wasn't Earl's latest MC appearance after that event; The Mosconi Cup where he told Ralf Souquet to F... Off? I had the impression that that was the final straw for Matchroom. Again, I don't have anything definitive, just the impression I got. Maybe he hasn't been back simply because of points. But it looks to me like Matchroom has created a loose enough system to allow themselves to include/exclude basically who ever they want.

Believe me, if Matchroom Sports had a choice between Earl and an emotionless robot with tin cups, they're going to choose Earl. He sells tickets. The emotionless robot with tin cups doesn't hold the interest for the TV viewing audience as much as somebody like Earl would, IMHO.

"Emotionless robot with tin cups" -- who would that be? Sounds like Madonna with her pointy metal bra. Unfortunately, I think that would sell.

I'm not gonna say who told me this but I will say he is best friends with Nick Varner and talks to him on a daily basis. Not sure why this guy would say this unless it was full of truth. Maybe I will send him a message and maybe he will chim in but that's for him to decide. I don't like to call people out or drop names unless I know they are completely ok with that :)

All I heard is they will not allow Earl to play in matchroom events anymore. Probably due to his antics and behavior. Do you see top snookers players losing their heads and going off on everybody? No you don't! They do however play in shushed enivorments so it isn't a York Hall setting. I do believe that even though the crowd is fueled by pints egos and punters matchroom still expects the players to act like professionals even under those circumstances! Also you do realize the crowd did this to him because they knew he would blow. You got to brush that crap off. Hard to do but you have to.

Do I blame Earl?? Hell no!! With all the taughts and talking while he was shooting is bang out of order. I agree with him on that but this is york hall and its just the way it is. Sorry but I'm sure he got plenty of warnings and didn't obey or bend to their demands so.... they banned him plain and simple. Do I think its right?? Yes and no but I'm not a multi-million dollar company looking out for its better interests.

It seems CJ has a nice connection with Earl. Perhaps if Earl were on the team this year CJ could get the maximum effort out of him. If you can keep Earl focused, he can beat anybody in the world

That connection is based on the Astrological influence.
Libra, Gemini, Aquarious are Air signs and in general get along well with ech other. CJ is a Libra, Earl is a Gemini.

For creating cohesion in the Team USA, under the leadership of CJ, I wish they include the following in the Team :
Stevie Moore ( a Libra )
Dennis Hatch ( Aquarian )
Earl Strickland ( Gemini )
Mike Dechane ( Gemini )
Shane V ( a cancer )

With the exception of Shane it will be a Team of Air Signs.:grin-square::cool:

Let me give you a little clue about thoroughbred pool players, ones who picked up the cue as a child and began playing champion-level pool by the time they were a teenager. It doesn't matter how long Dennis is away from the table. If he wants to get back in the saddle again, he can make it to the finish line before the other nags.

I really hope so Jenny  I like Dennis's game and I im pulling for him and the rest of the team. I was just stating that mentally he seemed a little out of it. Lets hope not. Who knows maybe the energy from the Hall will fire Dennis up and he'll rock everybody he plays. Trust me when I say a room full of energy and buzz can get you pumped up!!!

I've been there-

I had seen a previous thread on here that was talking about CJ being the Mosconi Cup Captain and if Johnny Archer was going to be on the team again. I believe personally that he will be however nothing is ever guarenteed. I think the USA Team have their hands full this year in London especially at York Hall as its crazy over there and tough to fade all the Euro fans. My question is without Archer can the USA beat the Euros and how much does Archer bring to Team USA. I think he brings alot but I may be biased. I would love to hear if others feel the same.

watching and filming Johnny during Matchroom's Mosconi Cup both in Vegas and in London at York Hall-the venue is electric and Johnny's impact and contribution
is tremendous!
you'll see ;)

During the last Mosconi cup that was held at York Hall, the stores ran out of the supply of Alcohol very early and as a result the crowd went bonkers ( withdrawls).
