Can I use Vacuum Cleaner to clean the cloth?

Looks big, i have a tiny dirt devil (OLD) that over the years is barely capable of sucking anything at all. It does however work perfect for my table. I use the hose attachment as well and have never had a problem or seen any wear on my cloth from it. But then again it's very small, very old, and not very powerful....does get the cloth clean as new though

I vacuum mine all the time with a Hoover Wind Tunnel. I put it on the table about once a week. I use the attachment hose to get under the rails. I have slow cloth and it gets "nappy". Putting the vacuum up on the table hasn't caused any problems so far.

My cloth color is dark so if it's "burning" or "scorching", I can't tell.

???????????????????

Never use a high horse power shop vac to clean your cloth. I was at a friends housean we did . It sucked the grout right out between the 3 piece slate.

Simonis says it's ok to vacumn but pay attentin to the post above. High powered vacs are not recommended.

I have 9 ft Diamond Pro w/860 and I've used a Dirt Devil Ultra (with revolving brush) for several years with never a problem. I've also read posts from many others on this site and on the CCB who do the same. Others will tell you NEVER do this but it works great with absolutely no problems. I'm as careful and picky about my table as anybody and I wouldn't use anything that would do damage.

I'm careful to not apply force to it.. that is I don't push down on it I just run it over the cloth. It does a great job, removes most all of the chalk dust residue. The slate under the cloth is much cleaner after a year or two of use than the slate under the cloth of tables that have been hand brushed only with no vac.

It makes a LOT of noise. Don't let it scare you. The brush won't hurt the cloth.

The hose and brush attachment you've linked to would work fine I think. I've used that long soft bristled upholstery vacumn brush before and it worked ok... just not as good as the Dirt Devil Ultra. I'd use the long soft bristle brush as I'd be worried about getting too much suction from a short bristled brush. You don't want anything that lifts the cloth off the table while it's pulling the dirt up.

I had this happen to me, too, when I used a Dyson vacuum cleaner on my table (covered with Simonis, which is irrelevant here). The suction was so powerful that it pulled up the grout (or whatever it's called) between the slates. I ended up having bits of it creating bumps near the seams. I could barely feel them with my hand, but a fast-moving cue ball would become airborne for a moment, and a cue ball coming to rest on them would wobble out of line as it settled. Having broken down the table and moved it into a new home, I now use a hand-held Dirt Devil and avoid the seams (use only a brush on the seams now)...no problems.

I run a Simplicity Synergy with the roller on over my table. I have done this for years. Haven't had a problem. I read somewhere that the cloth needs to be replaced every 2 years on a home table that is used daily. I am way over due. I still have the original and I have had the table over 30 years. Everyone that plays on it tells me how great the table and cloth plays. I think wax was used to seal joints.

There are four ways I can think of to avoid this. The first is to get one of those one-piece slate tables. The second is to get a table that has the slates machined so accurately that they don't need grout at the joints. These are expensive but they exist. The third is to use a grouting method that won't pull up. The last is to put a 1-by-4 down over the seam before vacuuming and then finish with a brush or weaker vacuum.

At many 3-cushion tournaments, the tables are vacuumed after every few matches, and it's not with a little dust buster. The usual cloth (Simonis 300 or Granito M) is quite a bit more expensive than 860.

i never vacuumed my table just hand brushed it.i just bought that original Quick Clean stuff.i heard alot about it thru posts here..i could not believe how clean just 1 cleaning did to the table.i used the microfibre brush that is recommended.it got the white lines out from when i do my X drills..i am a satisfied customer for sure...:)

here's a tip to cleaning cloth. i do this about once a month on my personal table. after vacuuming take a damp washcloth and wipe it over the entire cloth, rail cloth also. it will look hideous but let it dry and it will look normal. in a couple of hours do this one more time and let dry. vacuum once or twice a week until the next month and repeat.
