Can someone keep us updated on shane/donny?

they stopped for the night. 47-45 donny winning. the pool room had to close at 2pm per clearwater laws. They are going to restart the game tomorrow earlier, proly around 4ish.

Everyone should buy this ppv.

The local police came in and had the place shut down for the 2am.
Donny 47 Shane 45 start time tomorrow will either be 5pm or 6pm eastern

Shane at one time had Donny 31 to 21 and proceeded to lose 20 of the next 24 games for a score of 35 to 41.

Donny was soft breaking and making either the wing ball or the one ball and running out. Stringing racks.

Sunday will be fun to watch...

donny has his break working well. he has also gotten alot of rolls on his kick shots. donny has missed more balls than shane also. sunday should be a great shootout. gl to both.

Just for the record TAR has no problems with live scoring updates at all. If we had the time we would do it.

We want as many people interested in these events as possible. Whether they can or cant purchase them for whatever reason. The last thing we want is for people to get divided over something we are doing.

For the record the PPV turnout tonight was one of the better ones. I expect after the insane play tonight, tomorrow will be good as well. These guys are putting on one hell of a show.

Thanks for the clarification on the updates. I was able to get the ppy on this, because I was actually able to watch most of it. It was great!

I posted updates because I appreciate it when some else does it when I can't get the ppv; not because I am tight (maybe a little), but because I am at work or just don't have a block of time to be glued to the computer.

Thanks,
Bill

Pool and TAR in-particular only have the sponsorship they get from the fans which is us.

If they can't make enough money selling the ppv then they won't be able to stay around forever. Just some food for thought.

Your first point is incomplete, doesn't look at the big picture. In addition to the sponsorship they get from paid viewers, they get free advertising for the AZB forum updates. You cannot put a price on free advertising. Companies try to track it, though, by sending out surveys and asking their customers how they came about being a customer. A guess-timate on customers gained through this free advertisement would be 3%. I don't want to do the math on 3% growth each PPV, but I would not call that insignificant. Just speculation of course.

The second point is spot-on and lends itself to the point I made above, and that is an organization like TAR is going to accept with open arms any kind of free advertising it can get, because it only helps their cause. Why would they want to blackball potential future customers by not allowing updates, even if it could be controlled? That is not a recipe for future growth.

I don't feel strongly about it either way, especially not enough to get upset or argumentative about it as some have. I simply had an opinion and stated it in what I thought was a friendly enough manner.

Regardless of all the arguments for and against it, here is what I do know. When TAR has a free stream I've seen the viewer numbers range from 500 to over a 1000. I understand some people are at work or have a legitimate excuse for not buying the ppv, but that group is in the minority.

I have never seen 500 in a ppv. I have seen TAR go from free to ppv at the DCC and the free had approx 800 viewers and the ppv had less than 200. My beef is with the 600 plus viewers that had all the time and availability in the world to watch the free stream but are nowhere to be found when it comes to the ppv.

It happens time and time again and after awhile it annoys people like myself and watchez. We get jaded and we end up not wanting to give out updates because we know that the majority of people asking, have never bought a ppv nor do they have any intention of doing so. This is what has formed my opinion. When it comes to a ppv match, I am of the opinion that if you can't or won't get the ppv then you should have to wait until its over to find out the results. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one is right or wrong so there is no reason for people to get so bent out of shape. (In my opinion, of course)

They can and do get "free advertising" in threads. Not giving free updates of a ppv in progress does not all of the sudden negate their ability to be seen on the forums. People are posting as if I said the numbers should never get out, people should have to buy the ppv or dvd in order to get the numbers. I simply think the numbers should wait until the ppv is over for the evening. Again, just my opinion.

I think the updates are fine. There are also people that are at work, etc.., that legitimately can't buy the ppv.

The other factor is the money. Although $25 isn't any money, some people really can't afford it. I would rather those people buy groceries and not spend my tax payer dollars to buy ppv's. It's similar to the people you see buying lottery tickets that can't pay their rent, or the people you see that can't pay the power bill but are always on a cell phone.

The third category are the true nits, who CAN afford it and want to watch it, yet don't purchase it and ask for updates. The fact that they are missing the action, which is unbelievable, and have to follow the update threads to find out the scores is good enough for me. While they are glued to the update thread, the rest of us get to actually watch the action.

When I have the money to spend on it, I will be buying the DVD's off of TAR for this match and quite a few others... however, last night almost completely made me want to forget about supporting them based on the attitudes.

I paid for my first tar match last night. And I have now been on both sides of the fence. I thought it was funny when a few people were looking for updates and everyone was making up scores. LOL What I didn't like was the soft break. I think earl was on to something... I was so bored of watching the same pattern that I fell a sleep. :boring2:

I'm not going to place judgement on TAR after only 1 viewing. As I know they tried something different last night and had a few problems. I am excited that they moved the start time up to 4:30. Now I will be able to watch the end for sure. If you haven't bought the PPV then you will be missing out on some great action tonight!!!

I'm glad to know you'll be buying the DVD, you won't be disappointed. However, I can't for the life of me understand anyone holding TAR responsible for the opinions of others that are in no way affiliated with TAR. Justin has already stated his thoughts on the matter so you know where TAR stands, which is "on your side of the fence" so why on earth would you make them out to the bad guys?? Someone else posted something close to that last night and that makes absolutely no sense to me.

I pay for each TAR PPV

I support TAR because of the quality of their streaming and the effort put forth by the TAR folks in traveling and buying equipment and coordinating the matches etc.

That is big in my book! I hope they are successful!

I just buy it even when I know I can't watch the whole match (have other things to do around the house or whatever). The matches that I don't buy are the ones that I'm not interested personally. For instance I don't purchase women's matches or bar box matches. Just not what I like. But I will always try to get a TAR PPV when it is a 1 pocket, 9 ball, 10 ball, or straight pool match with quality players.

I really appreciate TAR!

I don't care if someone posts the scores. Makes no difference to me

You did state it in a friendly enough manner.

When TAR is free, I'll turn it on. Will I watch the whole stream? No, for a number of reasons...going out, playing golf, taking care of the family, boredom. So I will venture to say that some of those inflated numbers you see on the free PPV are people like me, who will turn it on, and leave it on despite being gone for 4 hours on the golf course, or for 2 hours to go to dinner.

I might also add that live updates probably feed the frenzy and add to the excitement, thereby inspiring future new customers. There are so many reasons, I could go on forever, about the benefits of free advertising. There is no reason to stop it for four hours at a time, when that might be the most useful time to have it.

I'm just trying to point out my belief that, while you have the best interests of TAR mind, it's misguided, IMO. I want TAR to succeed, as well. I think that live updates do much more good than harm.

My take on watching the match so far - Donny has the best controlled break on the planet - at least on that table. To watch the wing ball split the pocket and the 1, 2, and three roll to their positions time after time is downright amazing. It's more like a magic act.

I think Shane can outplay Donny, but the outstanding break does even up the match or tilt it in Donny's favor if Shane can't get his controlled break working.

everyone has their opinions, but don't stop supporting TAR because you disagree with someone else. justin gave his opinion in this thread and there is nothing he has ever said that should make anyone stop supporting TAR. jmo.
