Bad Luck

Bet ya can't! I just left another tournament a loser. I walk in the best stick in the place & by the time my bad luck gets through with me I'm finished. No player can beat me on skill alone. Only my bad luck beats me. With my bad luck they can be a C player & win a race to 4 for the match.

I'm winning every game tonight right? Can't miss a shot or get out of position. I play the best player there. He wins the coin toss [of course, that's how my bad luck always starts, with the coin toss]. He breaks gets two balls in & then the balls roll perfect for a 1-9 combo in the side pocket. I don't even get to shoot. I break & wipe the floor with this guy. Now my bad luck once it starts will not allow me to win another match. My bad luck is predictable. So I try to make the 9 hanging in the corner pocket off the 3 which I make in the side. The 9 knocks out of the way & the cue ball scratches [weird] the 9 rolls against the opposite rail next to the corner pocket & the 4 rolls right behind the 9 & my opponent has ball-in-hand. Win & match.

Loser's side story. Miss a hard bank on the 7, cue ball hits the 8 which was locked on the head rail. 8 goes in the side pocket & the cue scratches. Leaves my opponent with ball-in-hand on the 7 [I knocked the 8 in for him] & an easy shot on the 9.

I am so used to players telling me I shot great but so sorry about the bad luck & bad rolls. People come out of the crowd to tell me how bad they feel for me & that I don't deserve it. This is happening constantly. I can't even play my own game anymore for fear of the luck. No one can match my game & they win from sheer luck.

My bad luck beats me all the time. My son says I should stop playing pool. How in creation do I get this black cloud out from over my head??????????????

BTW: none of the bad luck that I describe EVER happens in practice or during fun games. ONLY when I play in $$$ tournaments.

pool is brutal sometimes

luck is just part of 9 ball but for the best players luck is a very small factor

you said you missed a hard bank not sure how the balls lay but if you would have played a safety instead maybe you could take some of the luck out of it

good luck next time and play smart

It certainly sounds like you are having a streak of bad luck.

It also sounds like your cb is a little loose.

These things go in streaks...it won't last forever...it just seems like it.

Make deposits into the good karma bank. Buy a couple of burgers for the homeless lady and her dog. Hold the door open for somebody at the post office in a wheelchair.

It won't change your luck but it helps put pool table luck in perspective, and that may change your luck.

I hope things turn around for you.

Take care

When you shoot, there is no such thing as bad luck because the balls can only do what you make them do. When the cue ball goes three rails, hits a ball and scratches in the corner it's because you lined up and shot at the right speed and direction to make it happen.
I find when I get negative and blame the rolls, things only get worse, so I just shrug it off and wait for the next opportunity.

Or maybe you were a very, very bad person in a previous life and karma is just now giving you what you deserve.

"I walk in the best stick in the place" & " No player can beat me on skill alone"

I think I figured out what is wrong. Your stance is out of balance. You are putting too much weight on your forward foot. You have to compensate by putting too much pressure on your bridge hand and its effecting your aim. Deflate your big head and all the balance problems go away!

I dont care who you are....that's funny ritch there! Lol

Shoot with the other hand.

Try shooting with your other hand. It will not matter if you make the ball as when you miss you will get the roll and either hook your opponent or garb another ball in. You can then go back to your normal hand and the bad luck will be broken. Promise ;).

I just assumed that thos post was satire, then I started reading the replies... -_-'

Look down when you walk, so you don't step on any cracks.**

**Very important, while looking down listen for vehicles or else
you will top your own bad luck. GOOD LUCK !

It is not the opponent that you need to beat, it is your head. So far, your head is winning. If you keep thinking about this bad luck nonsense, your head will win every time. Fcuk bad luck... Maybe it is money that is throwing you off. Gamble more to get used to it. :-)

And, yeah, I can top your bad luck story :-) But, I choose not to dwell on it, and it helps big time.

The only way to stop getting bad luck is to stop playing, and you don't want that.

Or... expect the worst pray for the best

Bad luck is a synonym for lack of skill. If your opponent did anything besides run the set out on you, you are to blame, not luck.

The more SVB practices, the luckier he gets.

But in your case, it's because the pool gods hate you. Nothing will change that except sending your cues & case to me.

Man your luck stinks
If you played tournaments with longer races it would probably get worse, so honestly there's not a whole lot of hope for you.
My advice is to either quit, or consider the professional trick shot circuit.
I don't think luck is a factor in Trick Shot Magic, but if there is I'm sure you will find a way to blow it.
Like I said, you might want to just give up

Luck is overrated. For you it sounds like you don't have a clue where the rock is going off of your shots, that isn't about luck, it's about lack of planning & execution. Everyone gets a funny roll once in awhile but what you describe is cutting the rock loose & those with no plan have little future in any area of life, not just on a pool table.

You don't win matches by being the best player. You win matches by playing best.

O'Sullivan v Selby Snooker final recently springs to mind.
