Cancer Update

Well, I went and met with my Pulmonary Doctor today.

The six samples they took during the biopsy last Friday (bronchoscopy.....loads of fun) showed that they were actually a benign condition called sarcoidosis.

That is definitely good, BUT (and there is always a but...haha) we're going to do a more invasive cardiothoracic surgery here soon, take larger samples of those lymphnodes just to make sure we're not missing any cancerous cells.

So, I guess this is good news. I mean, they could have found a load of cancer but out of six good samples all they found were these granulomas (sarcoidosis)......so the more invasive surgery will tell the tale! I'll keep you posted.

Your prayers are WORKING!!!!

Dude, I don't even know who you are and I'm bummin' for you big time. I'm really glad to hear those were benign. I'm not a very religious person but I'll set that aside say a prayer for you. I also teach at a Catholic school so I'll have the sister's put a word in for you on the direct line. Every little bit helps.

Wishing you a favorable outcome. Life sometimes offers us the stiffest of tests, so hang in there.

Great news indeed

This is really great to hear. Continue to keep a positive atitude and we will continue the prayers. Hope all works out well for you in the next procedure as well.

sarcoidosis.

I have the same thing in my Lymph Nodes. If its on vital organs it can be deadly as it can cause scar tissue. Only treatment for it is to take cortico-steroids like Prednisone (in HEAVY doses). I was up to 80mg of Prednisone a DAY and had to take it for 2 months on, then 2 months off until my chest xrays were clear. After the first 2 months of Prednisone treatment I QUIT TREATMENT and said I would rather die. 80mg of Prednisone (not sure how much they will put you on, it differs in case to case) is no fun and I'd rather die than to live the life I had while on it. I gained 12lbs. in one month mainly in my face and stomach, wet the bed with sweat EVERY NIGHT no matter how cold it was, had unreal acid reflux (I had it before but it made it even worse), I would feel so hungry that I'd think I was starving until I ate too much and your stomach will swell and be hard as a rock (not fun), and it will seriously screw with your vision. These are the only side effects I can think of right off hand. No doubt its a better verdict than cancer (they initially thought I had Lymphoma was scared me big time like I'm sure you are) but its still no walk in the park. Its been a year since I was on those Prednisone treatments and I'm still trying to lose the fat off my face. I had no life while on it and was scared to be seen in public. Couldnt shoot pool because my eyes wouldnt and couldnt focus because of the high doses of Prednisone.

If you need anything to talk about feel free to pm me. I've had Sarcoidosis for two years now, but longer since I was only diagnosed two years ago.

Death doesn't kill dreams. Other people do that.

and keep up the positive attitude.

Glad to know that the prayers are helping.
More will be coming your way.
Good luck with the follow up procedure.

Hi there, I hope everything goes well for you. My brother who is only 42 found out he had colon cancer about 8 months ago and he had to have a bag put on him and they just done more test today thinking that maybe something has come back. He has a tumor in his stomach now. I pray for you and him that everything is OK. That is some bad stuff and kemo is no fun to go through. I watch my brother go through it and it was bad. I am just hoping he does not have it again. I wish you the best and if I can help in anyway feel free to ask, Doug

That's great news Matt. Be positive. I'm dealing with a similar problem. Cat scans every 3 months is no fun but so far I have avoided the dredded predizone steroid treatments. My wife had sarcadosis and the predizone caused her weight to jump from 120 to 175 in 2 months. She's lost most of the weight now and doing very well. Take care Matt.

Hey Matt

That's one beautiful daughter you have there.
I am glad things are working out for ya buddy.
Peace, Purdman :)
