Carlo Biado sick a$$ shot

So, I set this shot up for my son. I didnt want to even attempt it .
1st attempt. too hard and Z'd out too far. Too much angle on 6
2nd attempt. used less angle on 6 and was better , but too hard.
3rd attempt. He nailed it perfect.
Ya im a proud dad.

Low inside, just enough draw to come across about 1 diamond higher than he started,
then the sidespin really catches on the 2nd rail. It's definitely a touch shot.
Needed a few tries to figure it out and I doubt I could get it just right at will.

It depends

I heavily disagree. He doesn't play just a notch under the greatest players, there is some significant distance.

It depends what someone considers a "notch".

if you know anyone that will play him One Rail Billiards it would be a miracle.

OR I could just keep reading...:embarrassed2:

Claiming Efren is near par with with 3C's best does make for a nice story though.

When you know anyone that will play him One Rail Billiards it would be a miracle. He played the greatest 3 Cushion players and just toyed with them for the cash.

To quote Melinda: waaaaaaaaghhhhhhhaaaaaaaa!!!!:D

Actually, I think that was Busty, who then proceeded to give Carlo a little chit to make him smile. And then there was Alex slapping his thigh and smiling in appreciation of the shot himself. Gotta love the atmosphere there.

Oh, and two shots later getting from the 8 to the 9 was pretty sweet too. I wasn't going to go out to shoot tonight, but I just watched this and I'm going now, seeya!

Fatz

That was a great shot by Biado. I play a lot of 3-C and shoot shots like this all the time, but the accuracy of his shape on the next ball was incredible. The action on the cueball isn't hard to get after you've hit this shot for awhile, but to get into that small an area for shape, in a pool final, is still world class.

I absolutely refuse to believe that guys like Jean Paul de Bruijn, F. Caudron, Xavier Gretillat wouldn't absolutely crush Efren at one cushion. I'm sure there are three cushion players (who would beat him almost all the time at 3-C) who are weak at one cushion and could be beat, but there is no way he is going to beat the top players at that game.

I'd bet he'd say the same thing himself.

I remember Efren stopped playing rotation sometime during the 70's and played 3C because he couldn't get any more actions from the locals here in Manila. It took him a year or two before they stopped gambling with him again because he got so good at it!! I know this for a fact because he used to play at the pool hall near my college and we used to sit and chat about pool.

I think efren is only down like 5 pts at the end of the youtube sample, not willing to spend 30 bucks to find out the final score. I'm sure he's world class, though I don't think he ever in his life could screw around vs. legends like blomdahl and cuelemans in any carom game. Those guys have like 40 world championship between them.

Efren ended up winning that exhibition. I saw it streamed live.

Is 71.2 balkline the same thing as "one rail billiards"?

Well, Ira Lee, one of our AZBros is selling the vids and as soon as I untighten my purse strings, I am buying that set!

If you promise to let me win next time we play, I might let Jeremy know what happens in the end and you can ask him about it.

There are a few x.x billiard games and they are one-rail billiards in which the tables have sectioned zones and a ball must exit a zone after a predetermined # of points, to prevent a player from trapping the 2 object balls an potentially dying of old age before his inning is over.

Good balkline players can still run crazy #s of points by 'nursing' the balls around the table, though they still have to move out of the zones.

Here is a vid of Frederic Caudron. I believe the video is old and that he is the current World Champion at the game. It takes him about 2min to get the balls together.

You can barely see the zone lines as they are white.

Check out the shot at 2.39- a fine example of how one can shoot a different shot now, to make future shots easier:

I have played the game a good bit and certainly do not play it well, but I have noticedthat you always want to leave a triangle with the 3 balls...the smaller/ the better...I leave lines, sadly.

If you bring it to perky's place we'll put it on the screen. And when efren wins and we have a final score,
I will stop sharking long enough to let you shoot ONE shot only. But after that you're on your own.
