carolina open action report

So they didnt DQ Earl for quitting that set, if he wins the tournment the Action Challenge will be interesting against SVB, SVB will have his hands full, it will be a great match. The line will move alot depending on what earl does in the weeks to come.

The best move in the world might be to get the odds up on whether or not Earl goes the distance and then he bets (through a shill) that he will and does picking up easy money win or lose.

I have a feeling that the side action is going to be much lower due to the "Earl's mood" factor.

If Earl beats Shane in a race to 100 then he is ready for the big time once again. The only reason Earl can't be as consistent as Efren is Earl.

FB, if you're still interested, I'll put up $50 to your $60 that Earl goes the distance. Now, if it's something like SVB has 98 to Earl's 60, and Earl concedes the last game or so, then that to me is the same as going the distance. Also, if for some reason they never even START the match, then the bet is off. Let me know, old buddy.

Doc

ok we got a bet, its a gift for you-I like you so i'll make the bet, SVB has to get to 95, if earl walks out after 95 no action, if he sits it out and SVB wins then you win, if earl wins then obviously you win. if earl walks out before SVB gets 95 I win, is 95 games cool for the over/under?

I will bet JohnnieT as well no one else I hate this bet but I made the post and will honor it with 2 friends only-cheap.

well, everyone's favorite Earl Strickland is knocked out - he took 13th-16th with Larry Faulk, Mike Fuller, and Mike Gullessey. on the winners side, they are down to four players, Robb Saez, Louis Ulrich, Shannon Daulton, and Robert Ray. should have more updates around midnight.

What was the score between Johnny and Earl?

Sounds good to me. The spirit of this wager is whether Earl will stay the distance-- not whether he wins or loses. You have a hunch that Earl might blow up, huff off, forfeit, unscrew, whatever. Based upon some of his prior antics, no one would be surprised if he did. I have a hunch that if the match actually STARTS, he'll stay the course. If Earl quits before Shane gets to 95, you win.

Now let's hope they actually play...

thru the four o clock matches, i believe the winners side was down to Shannon Daulton and Rob Saez. The one loss side had Gabe Owen versus Louis Ulrich, and Mike Davis versus Robert Ray.

well, it is down to the final three - Mike Davis and Robb Saez are fighting it out in the semis and Shannon Daulton holds the winners side of the bracket. should be a great finish to a long week.

Has anyone heard why he quit. Was he mad at himself for missing shots, or was the crowd to loud or was he upset with something Mike did? If anyone has a clue, I would like to hear it.

Earl was complaining to the railbirds about not making the corner ball when he breaks. Mike asked him in a nice way not to talk when he is shooting. Earl and Mike exchanged a few words, nothing harsh or out of line, then Earl just unscrews his cues and leaves. This was couple of hours before the one-pocket finals. When Earl came back 1-1/2 hours later he was a happy camper.

Mike Davis takes 3rd loosing to Robb Saez 11-8

Saez and Daulton are playing for the title - the final race is to 15.

It doesn't surprise me at all to see SD iin the finals. He has been playing very well the last few months and he has been gearing up for the events through the beginning of next year. I look for him to have more impressive finishes in the events coming up. He is hungry again and it is showing.

I am pulling for him to win the next match and the title of Carolina Open Champ.

and the winner is...........

Shannon Daulton by a score of 15-13 over Robb Saez. congrats to Shannon!! the full write-up on the days activities should be on the home page soon.

Congrats to Shannon!!! I am glad to see him pull it off and I hope he has a strong showing in the US Open next week.

behind every good man is a great woman - hope marge had a great time this week as well :D
