Carolina Women's Billiard Classic

If it's like last season they'll have some updates at around 6pm eastern time and again at 11:30pm if whoever is handling that isn't to tired.:p
If they are tired or busy the second group of updates will be tomorrow morning sometime.
Last year I think Kelly Oyama did the web updates....don't know who's doing them this year.

I don't know a lot of the women players but I have personally met Melissa, Tina, & Sarah (in that order :p )

Which Sarah?

I don't think that Engh beating Hines is an upset. I have watched Tracy play a few times and I get the impression she just goes through the motions and does not care if she wins or loses.

I sincerely think that is not even close to being true. Tracy may not show a lot of emotion but she is a gutsy, committed player.
And I may be mistaken but I think that is the first win for Jeri in sometime. I do not remember seeing her post a win in the last two seasons. So I would say, it is most defiantly a very big upset!

Jennifer Chen 9 Wendy Jans 4, Jennifer won. Jennifer was up like 8 to 1 on Wendy but then she allowed Wendy to win a few games. Congratulation to Jennifer.

Ms. Pan was down but she is now leading: Xiao Ting Pan 8 Melissa Herndon 6

Another major upset: Ga Young Kim lost her first match to Susan Mello and I believe the score was 9 to 5.

I am sorry will not be posting any more updates. That is it for now for today.

Have fun everyone.

Thanks nippon! Hey, do you see Heather Pulford Lloyd playing right now? She's one of the girls from Texas playing and we don't know what time her first match is.

If I have the facts right, Jeri has not posted a win in over three years.

Jeri has been a very faithful supporter of the WPBA event, and is always very polite and quiet.

It is a major upset that everyone is talking about, along with the upset of Gayoung Kim against Susan Mello.

I heard Tiffany Nelson defeated Heather Pulford-Lloyd 9-3.

Heather said it was hill-hill with Melissa and Xiaoting Pan when she left the playing area, so doesn't know who ended up winning.

One of my friends just told me JoAnne Corbett defeated Megan Minerach 9-5.

I wish I had more news/updates... but that's all I know right now.

Melinda
Yes Joanne did win and I hope she continues to play well thru her next few very tough matches. keep those updates coming people.

Hey SJM,
I just noticed this tournament is following that new format with single elimination after the the first few rounds...and I guess 8 going to the tv rounds. This is more in reply to another post about Pan. It sure makes things interesting!

I'm calling my shots on this one.
I say-
1) Monica:)
2) Allison
3) Gerda
4) Helena
5 + 6) Jeanette + Karen

Well it wasn't hill-hill with xiaoting and Melissa if the result sheet is accurate.

Seems Pan xiao ting won 5 of the last 6 games to win 9-6.

Commiserations to Melissa, a regular here. Good luck to her in the rest of the event!

Xiao ting has a rough draw. Melissa, next Angel (looks like angels on her game too). If she gets past Angel then looks like Allison (woooooo that ought to be a good one). Melissa looks to have a better chance coming from the 1 loss side.
Looking at the scores the real surprise for me is Laura Smith, she took down Tina 9-1. Not saying she's not capable, just that the way Tina was playing to earn the qualifiers the score is surprising.
