Case maker recommendations

Well, that wasn't very kind, was it?

And how do you know what my intentions are regarding cases? I've just sold a couple I didn't like and am now looking to reinvest the proceeds. I sold one of yours, I think, an old instroke buffalo. Too heavy, and strangely sterile.

Anyway, a couple of things:

1. This thread was created to hear about other case makers, so kindly stay out of it. Your sandwich board ads are all over it. Let other case makers have a go for a change.

2. You don't want people questioning the benefits of one item for sale - aiming systems, say - but you see it as your moral duty to inform the world about minor differences in production techniques employed by a rival casemaker. One criticism is hurtful and damaging to the reputation of the seller, whilst the other is a public service and your mission in life to keep people fully informed and protected. John 'Both Ways' Barton.

As ever, dude, gotcha.

Anyway, that's rhetorical. No need for an 80 paragraph response on your hypocrisy, as utterly amusing as that would be.

Wrong.

The difference is that I have studied cases from all aspects. I have dissected just about every cue case made. So when I say something about them it is 100% true.

When you speak about aiming systems it is from a position of ignorance.

I have ten years of experience with them so my statements are based on facts and on - table experience.

If a criticism is true such as inadequate protection or false advertising about where the case is made then it is my duty to expose that.

Your criticisms of aiming systems are not true.

So no as usual you didn't get me. You can't trap me because my position on cases and aiming systems is built on solid facts.

How often do the English, use the word "dude?" I can't for the life of me recall, ever hearing it from a Brit.

He's becoming "Americanized" from all the time he spends here telling us how bad the USA is, how bad pool is compared to his country, and basically, how bad anyone is that dares to even question Mr. Obama on anything ;)

I would recommend Jack Justis or Volturi if you want a true custom case without a long wait! They make their cases themselves ...

Well currently Jack Justis is backlogged and not taking any new orders per his post yesterday. So for one of his cases you will have to wait unless you buy it on the secondary market.

From what Jack said though, it's a 30 day back log. Still pretty darn good from a 1-2 person shop. Even if you waited 2-3 months, that's not bad. Some guys are still waiting on that Palmer/Balabushka/Szamboit/ whatever... Some people wait 8-10 years for Searing, Herceck, SouthWest....

I am pry 1-2 years out from having the extra money to dump into a monster Jack Justice case. So 30 days doesn't seem so bad...

This is pretty interesting next to your "I don't like arguing" tagline. Might want to change that.

No they don't.

Jack's interiors are 100% made in China. He doesn't even cut the tubes to the correct size when they come in a little too long for his patterns. - We make all of our own interiors and do every length on request and at no extra charge.

Volturi has a crew of people making cases just like I do.

And TRUE CUSTOM means doing anything that is possible which we have been doing for 7 years now. No case maker has the portfolio of diversity that we do. Especially not Justis and Volturi. www.jbcases.com/casesbyname.html if you don't believe me.

Let's keep it FACTUAL ok?

I have one for sale. $750 for a collectible Justis case. It will be at the Super Billiards Expo for examination and comparison.

I have a nice brown JB Case interior to put in it for free if requested.

You don't like John, we get it...

Au contraire, I like Barton a lot, and respect what he has done for himself.

Unless he has played the mother of all bluffs, he flat-out cannot play - that is what I object to. I have no objection to anyone who cannot play if they recognise it themselves. I cannot play and admit it. But those who cannot play but think they can play deserve all the flak in the world. He makes himself fair game.

You'll never find me dissing his product or his business. But he willfully conflates playing with business, endlessly shilling himself in the process. I wouldn't care about that either if it wasn't for the endless - shock! horror! I'm a victim! stop bullying me! - line he reverts to when losing an argument.

But I do not dislike him, and never have. He is endlessly entertaining, in a way he is blissfully unaware of.

ps thanks for rep. Appreciate it. Red is definitely my colour. I have had 7 reps in 24 hours and yours was the only red. Disappointing.

What's that quote? Whether by birth or culture, we are all Americans now. Something like that.

You lot will see the genius of the word 'mate' one day. Covers everyone and all eventualities.

So what you're saying is... You like John, but you dislike everything about John.
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding and you just like trolling.

If you enjoy knocking John because he says he can play well, you should be knocking a lot more players on this forum that you have also never personally witnessed their playing abilities.

Might as well knock me too while your at it.

Unsubscribing from this thread. Apparently recess at the local middle school started and the flame wars began.

Kind of like ya'll. If you say "you guys" like the yankees do, it is at best referring to two or three guys. If you say ya'll correctly it can cover anywhere from two to thousands.

I flat out cannot play?

By whose standards, yours?

I don't lose arguments. Stalking/trolling/bullying are all the same. Just because I stand up to you and beat you down doesn't make what you do the right thing for you to be doing in the first place. Just because I would rather not have to make posts like this one doesn't mean I am playing the victim, I am the victim, but not a helpless one that you or anyone else here can force to leave the playground.

When I am in a discussion and someone shows me that I am in error then I look it up and if I made a mistake I admit it and move on.

As for my playing ability, I have never claimed to be more than a banger. But I can do one thing well enough and that is run eight balls into my pocket which is the goal of one pocket. And my skill level is enough to beat Lou Figueroa. I beat him once and I have beaten many players who are better than him in the time since then.

So your premise that I flat out can't play is wrong. If you think I am that bad you could be next on the dance card if you were brave enough to be here with your real name like I am. But I feel that if we made a game you would probably looking to find someone else to play me under your name.

You argue about a system you know NOTHING about, you prop up a man you know nothing about, you talk about a whole game and culture that you know nothing about. And you want to criticize me?

At least I only speak on subjects I have experience with.

I was actually curious. I've known several Brits, and never once heard "dude" come out of their mouths.

I wasn't insinuating anything else with my statement. Simply asking a question.

I'm not into the high end leather cases, always thought it was like putting a sign on my case "Please Steal Me, I'm Expensive". To each their own.

I did, however, purchase one of John's rugged cases at DCC. It is a fantastic product at a great price IMHO.

I've seen several Justis cases close up. Beautiful, elegant cases with great workmanship.

These two gentlemen make great products and obviously take pride in what they do. Too bad they seem to be at each others throat.
