Cats and pool tables?

I love cats, but I can't eat a whole one.

It might be hopeless

Some cats just have that defiant nature like my brat cat. (My avatar) She leaves the pool table alone but loves the kitchen counters. I tried everything with no success. The spray bottle thing just became a game for her and I just ended up with a wet cat and kitchen. I rigged up a remote controlled obnoxious buzzer so when she hopped up I would just hit it and scare the bejeezers out of her. I expected her to jump 3 feet in the air and take off never to be seen in the kitchen again. Nope, she just looked at it with a "WTF" look and moved on with her investigating.

My other cat is just the opposite. When I caught her where she didn't belong (pool table and counter) I chased her down and she just gave me that look that said "I'm sorry and I'll never disappoint you again" and she hasn't.

The Scat Mat just may be the ticket. When my dad was a kid he rigged up something similar to keep their cat off the bed. Worked like a charm.

I wish you luck. Maybe you'll find something that works but maybe not. Keep the nails trimmed and a lint roller nearby if nothing else.

That's why I have two dogs. One of them will remove the dog remover.

Good luck with the cat problem. Only one of our cats has front claws but she is the one who most enjoys getting on the table while I'm practicing. I use a thick cover and throw boxes and things on top of the table when it's not in use so they haven't any room to use it as a playground.

Origination of a word

It is no small coincidence that it's called a CATapult.

Anyone know a way to keep the house cats away from my pool table??

I keep it covered when not in use but even then I don't want them scratching on it. And when I am playing,,I sometimes walk away to take a break without covering it.

I tried some red pepper on wet paper towels,,all around the table. They didn't seem to care if it was there ,,or not.

I did a internet search and see all kinds of crazy ideas. I will keep trying them but it could take months. lol

And NO I can't shoot the cats. GF would be unhappy with me.

LOL, funny story. I used to have cats & a pool table. They always jumped on it & it pissed me off  I'd even shoot a ball at their feet (not hard) hoping they'd get the picture. I began to shoot a little harder. Still, it wouldn't stop them. They're fascinated by balls rolling around.

My suggestion, lock them in a room while you're playing. Or put them in a cage. I can't think of anything else. If I do, I'll let you know

You could do what I do, put the table in a room with a door and close the door.
This works for me at Christmas time to keep the cats out of the tree, I'll fill a couple of small cotton (or something breathable) with orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime peals and put them under the tree. Of course, we have to replace them about once a week. Cats hate citrus, this seems to keep them away

As you can see from my avatar, I know all about kittens and pool tables!

The next time you're playing, give kitty a nice chunk of fresh catnip and he'll forget all about pool for a while. (It's a nice treat even if you don't have a pool table...)

Put aluminum foil loosely on the rails of the table when not in use. Most cats for some reason don't like to walk on aluminum foil. I've used it with good results a few times, but I did have one cat that didn't seem to be bothered by it. Worth a shot....

Invisible Fence Brand

Invisible Fence Brand works like a charm...training takes less than a day (perhaps as little as a few hours/minutes). They offer not only outdoor applications, but indoor avoidance solutions as well.

Only maintenance fee we have is the purchase of a new collar batteries once a quarter.

Can't remember the price, it has been about 8 years since we got set up, not the cheapest, but a savings over destroyed stuff in the long run (we have dog and cat).

Browse this site if you are interested. Should be cheaper since you are not having an outdoor fence installed, and only setting up an indoor "avoidance" area.

Best wishes...

As you see from my Avatar I have two meezers, who love to be on the table.

I don't mind, they have been enjoying more than me for the past 3 months.
