Caught Sharking at SBE

Y'all can do jumping jacks in front of the pocket I'm shooting at for all I care ! Send it

LOL.... I used to play with an old "crotchety" SOB, that would make sure he was in your line of sight, then, as your getting ready to pull the trigger he would start to rattle the change in his front pocket. I'm not talking small change either. It sounded like he robbed his grandkids piggy bank. He had probably $12 in change. Every week, was the same.

Jingle Jingle..... WTF?..... funny part was, he thought that kind of play was normal. He'd look at you, and go "what?, oh I'm sorry....F'n nit.

Burrito and his crew are from either Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic from what I've heard. For some reason, they always show up at the Expo but I've never seen them anywhere else.

Dominican.

Thing is, Burrito aint got nuthin on Chalupa Supreme.

I have no idea what kind of pool rooms most of you grew up in and don't care.
My comments are that "messing with somebody's head" was routine where I played. Opponents talked on your shots, said things like "I think the dog is coming out on him", "this one will be a real character builder", or actions like getting their money out and ready to drop in the pocket when you're lining up on the case ball, standing in the line of the shot, letting out a loud "burp" at a pressure moment, it was endless.
Danny Jones told us kids to remember....."If a guy is a talker, he's also a listener". Give it right back to him.
I played Mizerak 8 Ball at one of his exhibitions and he was constantly running his mouth and trying to rattle me. I plodded along like the old tortoise I am and broke about even. (the crowd hated him). Then on one of the last games he was down on a critical shot and I cracked out with "don't dog". He missed the ball a foot...........and he was FURIOUS.
Started talking about the 'show was about him" etc. etc. etc. I told him, you got back what you dished out Mister Pool Champion man.
I also played Mosconi at one of his exhibitions and he was nothing but class and professional all the way. He beat my brains out for 2 dollars and a Coca-Cola. Never did any of the smart mouth stuff. What I didn't know until much later was that when I wasn't looking he quietly gave the two dollars back to my girlfriend.
That man had more style in his little finger than most players have in their whole body.

Seems to me you didn’t understand the situation....google EXHIBITION

I got nothing but good memories of the Miz

It's always the same with Burrito and crew, I'm sure Roy new what they were getting into, and like many others on here we grew up around that kind of action(especially DD) if that stuff bothered you, you didnt have a prayer of winning.

Dead silence would be a shark move to those of us that grew up around that lol.

FeelDaShot...You've never seen pool played in the PI! They gamble with people 10' deep around them, yelling in their ears, "Bet 100 he misses this shot!"
They also may be playing outdoors, with chickens running around the table. If you can fade pinoy sharking, you can fade anything! OF course, that never bothered Efren in the least!

I’m sure he’s used to playing around a crowded table but they aren’t blatently sharking like this in the Philippines. Big difference. I don’t care who you are or how calm you seem, that BS will always bother you and change your focus.

When your friends are standing around the table or next to you while the other guy is shooting, that's not sharking.
That's muscling.

As bad as the atmosphere is in the Philippines, I have not seen anyone grab the chalk while the other guy is shooting .

Sharking by some crew is blatant. I saw one where an infamous local player started powdering his hands ( with clapping to boot ) while the other guy was shooting to his pocket ( 1-hole game ) .
The result was the shooter complained about it then one of the other guy's muscle men came and started barking at the other guy.
Result ? Player knocked out the muscle man.
Happened right there at HT, Bellflower.

Yep, that entire crew is bad action. Not sure how it woulda went down if DD had won. They will get away with that crap.....until they dont.

I'd like to see him try that playing against Dennis. He would be in for a surprise. Dennis would just smile and slam the ball in the hole for emphasis. He has a way of putting a stop to all the sharking. He just plays a little better when they do stuff like that.

I'd like to see him do that with Dennis Hatch....Dennis would slam alright but it wouldn't be the ball....

I just got back from the playing pool in the Philippines over Christmas break. I was in Davao, Cebu, and Manila. I've also watched countless hours of live streams from the Philippines.

They definitely, don't mind crowding the table to watch. I came across a few outdoor pool halls as well. But no one intentionally sharks the players like you claim. The worst that happened to me was a child that was crawling around ended up under the table and I almost stepped on him. He didn't know any better and wasn't doing anything on purpose.

Everyone bets before the game starts. No one is openly taking bets during a game. And when they are taking bets their speaking Tagalog (or the other local languages) so I highly doubt you've heard anyone say "Bet 100 he misses this shot".

I agree, they aren't sharking, that's the just the way it works. This guy was definitely sharking by grabbing that chalk. I'm just surprised that Aranas even noticed it, given where he grew up.

I believe he stopped and asked for the chalk then missed.
Lesson learned. Next time bring your own chalk.
And don't give that burrito any more action unless his muscle stay seated.
I can tell you this. Efren used to have a backer who was an ex-cop. He took no crap from anybody.
This move would have never been pulled on Efren.
