Celebrities and Pool

Lorre Jon and Robin were on his ill fated talk show several years ago. Not only couldn't he make a ball, he was a jerk to them.

Thanks Jay. He musta had a stunt-double in CS II.

Evidently, Tony Stewart is also a good player. Makes sense...good hand/eye skills needed in NASCAR...

Not giving it much thought, but I've seen all of the following celebrities shooting pool at the Amsterdam Billiard Club:

Jerry Seinfeld
Paul Sorvino
John Lovitz
John Ratzenberger
Macauley Culkin
Mats Wilander
Teemu Selanne
Gary Shandling
Harry Carson

I played a little pool with Cliff Claven when I was house proing at Jillian's. :p Seems like all the rap stars have pool tables in their 'cribs' and I played pool with several of the Sonics. When they bent over the tables, you could see a huge triangle of air between their legs. I could have walked through their legs without bending over, lol.

I saw Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens and Jorge Posada all playing pool one night. Ironically, Andy is a lefty pitcher yet shoots righty. Roger is a righty pitcher yet shoots lefty.

cliff claven? that's awesome. he probably got good playing on the set in that little back room at Cheers, with the pool table, that they rarely showed.

I read somewhere that the late Jerry Orbach actually ran in the 60s and 70s in straight pool. I also remember Ricky Schroeder was in that movie Poolhall Junkies, not sure if he could really shoot or not.

I know everybody is going to say a lot about them for years and years but to me and a bunch of us at Amsterdam's old Eastside location where I used to work, they were alright. Clemens had a thing about playing pool right before he pitched. He'd be there in the morning of a night game or the night before a day game. If he came in at night, it was a sure thing Andy and possibly Jorge would join him. They were always nice. They always tipped well. They'd sign autographs when asked.

Once, I was sitting in a restaurant near the club and Clemens came in with a few friends, saw me and said hello like any other regular would do if they saw me having dinner. Like I said, say what you will but he's alright in my book. I hope he gets past all this crap.

I have been a huge Roger Clemens fan ever since I was a kid. I got his autograph in a Whataburger when I was about 7 or 8 in Austin, Texas. I don't care what anybody says about him. I will always be a fan. I was just making a joke. He will be fine I am sure. Besides I don't think that he needs much external validation for all of his accomplishments in baseball and life.
