Years ago some golfing equipment dealer brought a gizmo to Kerry Zeiler's shop.
He called this gizmo roundness tester.
He said if a golf putter is truly round and has equal rigidity 360 degrees, the shaft will not spin when he bends it and locks it on two bearings.
We placed a Predator shaft on it since it's supposed to have a 360* sweet spot.
Guess what happened after it was bent and the ferrule end locked on two bearings with another bearing holding it down ?
It spun and found a sweet spot and stopped there.


He did the same thing to a synthetic golf shaft.
It too spun and rested on it's sweet spot.

360* sweet spot is a pipe dream .
 
This si how I check the balance of my cues, I guess I need to spin them, do you think Kamui chalk will spin better?

After years of careful measuring with a state of the art laser interferometer calibrated to offset the most recent sunspot flare it has been determined that cues perform optimally if the observed motion change when a cue, rotated along its Z axis at a rate changing from 2 rpm to 3.725 rpm over a period of 8 minutes, deflects less than 124 microns. Other than that only $75 chalk can overcome the concern expressed so eloquently by the OP.

ps, If you are looking for that particular chalk, let me know. I have a cube without any label or wrapper that I could be persuaded to sell. Shipping and handling not included.

Yes, but some of it might not be right.

As far as balancing on Kamuui chalk, you're alright as long as you have the right side up and the north face, facing SSW at 2 pm.

I think that is refered to as "splining", a method of finding the direction in which the shaft is softest (most easily bent). It is a static test. We did this religiously with pole vaulting poles as they can twist violently and mess up your hands and wrists if you flex them a little off their splice.

that's what i want, centrfigual balancing for cues and i will have it, sooner or later.
why not now.

There was a company promoting cues with a weight on 1 side to make the cue hang so to speak to keep it in the same plane while being stroked.
It was to help people who have a tendency to roll their wrists a little.

this is an old trick. guys have been using scraped tire balancers from tire centers for years. i could never seem to get the weights to stay put.

Golf clubs get splined for alignment with the head, if someone believes in it enough to pay for it.
