CF Cues Warp?

Can I leave my cue in my car.... every day. Even when trunk temps are 120 degrees + and have no cue damage as I would with Wood?

the butt is still wood
what about the glue that holds the tip, won't it melt in that heat... or the glue that keeps the ferrule or the joint threads?
Why would you want to leave a cue in the car? unless it's just a quick stop to or back from the pool hall (shouldn't be a problem with any cue/shaft)

There are 100 percent carbon cues (both butt and shaft). GO custom is one.

So I don’t think you’d have to worry about warping with those cues. But I don’t know how the tip ot the glue would fair.

It depends. My upcoming line of pultruded carbon fiber single cored cues won't warp; however, I expect that to be the exception not the rule.

The adhesives are what I would be most concerned about. And there are more than just the tip glue. As far as the carbon fiber I am not sure but I would lay odds that it will be happier that wood.

Can carbon fiber warp? yes it can, but less so than wood, but that's not really the issue here. very high temperatures and fluctuations in temepartue affects all the components the cue is made of in a negative way. remember there's different plastic materials, PU foam and most importantly epoxy glues that will deteriorate when you submit it to extreme temperatures in both directions.
A cue is very much like a instrument in that regard.

i keep a cue in all my cars all the time. and for many decades not one has warped or shown any damage from being in cars and pickups in the back in temps from 110 outside in the sun down to minus 30 or more fahrenheit. hot and humid and hot and dry no difference.

only thing was i cracked ferrels and joints made from ivory way back when i did not know that it has to warm up before you hit with it.

of course if you have green wood in your cue, you are up shitts creek.

I remember watching Jersey Reds wife at Janscos in the 60's do this.
Went to the car trunk....
Brought cue in case into the pit area seated before the match began.
She'd take it out and handle it with her hands to warm it up before play.

That depends. OKHealing and Go Customs both make a full CF butt and I'm sure there are others.

There is still usage of glue that might not survive that kind of heat if left for a long time.
inside the CF shaft and maybe even those CF butts, there is foam that may melt as well.

Fair enough. I keep an OKHealing CF butt and a Rhino shaft in a black truck in CentralTexas. Hasn't been a problem yet.
