Buying a glove has improved the smoothness of my stroke immensely.
Plus no more cue-towel needed.
My stroke still sucks, but at least it's now smooth

Pretty sure I did this one time long ago.I was desperate since I could not find the chalk-cone or even a piece of it laying on the floor!
Nowadays I just keep the cue and my hands clean.
I do wish that the peole who use hand chalk or powder would learn how to use it.Just put a tiny bit on your hand and rub it into the skin,you don't have to coat your hands with the powder,you just need to use enough to take the moisture out of your skin.

I wish I didn't need anything, but my hands are just too sticky to play without the aid of something and it doesn't matter how much I wash them or towel them off, or how much I clean my shaft. Some people have no problems and they look down on others who use powders or gloves. (which is a b.s. attitude) I used to use powder, but it is a PITA to walk over to the chalk cone if they even have one at the poolhall, and baby powder leaves a residue that builds up quickly on your shaft. I tried the glove, and at first didn't like it because it left me feeling disconnected from my cue. I put it away and went back to powder, got sick of the powder, got the glove back out and the 2nd time was the charm. I haven't looked back since.
Those who don't need anything should consider themselves very lucky. If I were to just walk in off the street to a poolhall or bar, I wouldn't be able to play unless there was powder. Wearing the glove has allowed me to enjoy the game and play it well. I wore them when I played baseball, and I wore them when I played drums, so why should I be looked down upon for wearing them to play pool. No one has said anything to my face in a poolhall, but if they did, they would probably be wearing their cue in some sort of fashion.

I do like the finger slides
I like the finger slides but we have had an unusually cool dry winter around New Orleans this year allowing me to shoot naked all winter! Nice dry hands with no powder, no glove, nothing between the cue shaft and your hand is hard to beat.
The big hot has to be just around the corner and I'll be breaking out the finger slides again. I do like them much better than gloves or powder.

yup! I'm on the same page. I've been raw doggin it all winter, but I'll be breaking out the glove when the warm weather comes back. People wear gloves in almost all other sports...why not pool?
I ordered the Finger Slides from Nancy of Cue-Z C.T.C. on Monday late afternoon, she took my size put in the order, made them up & sent them out on Weds. I got my Finger Slides from Nancy on Thursday. I stayed up late that night to try them out on my table Thursday night, and used one of my Cuetec sticks that are more prone to become sticky from humidity and use in my experience than a wood shaft. I have to say, I really liked them. I barely noticed that I was wearing them, I did not experience any binding whatsoever, and it gave me the isolation from feeling any inconsistensies in the shaft surface that I was looking for. I wore them again last night from 7PM till 2AM, I had a bunch of my league friends over.
