When Chang took a break @ 15-13 Chang, Dennis called Ken over to talk about either the table rolling off or the cue ball rolling off. Dennis proceeded to hit balls during the break. Once Chang returns Ken changed the cue ball.. WHY? Shouldn't they be forced to use it because both players are playing with it? INPUT PLEASE!

I think Mike Dechaine was complaining about the cue ball after the 10b match he lost.

At first when Dechaine said the cueball was off balance I thought he was just being Dechaine, but maybe he's not the only one who thinks so.

If both players agree, the cue ball can be changed, but no way you can change the ball if only one player ask for it.

And also they should not be allowed to practice on the table in time out.

Dennis was practicing jump shots last yr in one of the US Open events on another table either during a time out or during his shot.

He was playing china's wu.. he took a practice jump shot on another table during his inning and Ken gave wu ball in hand. Was shocked dennis did it.

Some of his behaviors come off as a bit ethically in the grey area to me. That incident along with blatantly pattern racking and soft breaking to defeat Jayson Shaw at Hard Times. There were a couple other incidents that I can't think of off the top of my mind right now.

Wow, fell asleep and did not notice they changed CB LOL
Saw Orcollo playing balls and testing with Ken during the time out
Maybe the CB change helped Chang since after that he ran 6 pack to win. Chang was probably not bothered what he was playing with he would adapt accordingly LOL. Put a stone there in place of CB and he would continue shooting

Strange that Orcollo complaints about cue ball, in Philippines they play in more rough conditions, he should adjust without any problem.

They shouldn't change the cue ball during the match unless both players agree.
Also if the cue ball is off and rolling funny, to say he should adjust without any problem is ridiculous. I don't care who you are or how good you play there is no way to know which direction a faulty cue ball will roll towards at the end of a shot when it's slowing down. It would all depend on which way the cue ball is turned if said ball is lopsided, please. That would be the same as saying players can easily adjust for a skid.
Yes their are things they could do to try and prevent a skid, but nothing you can do to adjust to one.

Yes, rough table conditions can be adjusted to i.e., table rolls, damp conditions, dead spots on rails, fast or slow playing tables.

Cue ball issue at CSI Invitational

I find it rather curious that, with the myriad of quality issues on most products coming out of China these days, that no one seems to relate that scenario to the "quality" of the Cyclop ball sets...????

Although pure speculation and not based upon any hard data, I wouldn't be surprised to find that we eventually move away from them and renew our allegiance to Aramith balls (Saluc)...!!!

It's not really a difficult decision to arrive at the conclusion that "price" is only one element of the "value" in a product....any product...!!!

I have witnessed the problems with the Cyclops cue ball up close for six days now. The players are not imagining what they are complaining about. I have to agree that the Cyclop cue ball is a bit off balance and has curved on its path a few times in ways not attributable to either English or masse. It's easy to avoid slow rolling the cue ball in position play, and most players have tried to make this adjustment, but it is far more difficult to pass up on some of the touch safeties typically required in the course of play.

It's a shame because many, myself included, think the Cyclop balls play well and that the cue ball is the only problem. To be fair, there haven't been many skids this week, no more than one would expect of Centennial or Super Aramith.

Thanks to Cyclop for their sponsorship.

We were playing some yesterday and noticed some movement of the balls but it's not the cue ball. Pretty sure it's the cloth. The balls roll left and right at various times, nothing consistent. I have Cyclop balls at home and have never seen any off balance behavior

How long have these tables been sitting in hot Vegas storage? The cloth isn't new for sure

This was my observation as well from watching the stream, but I wanted someone to confirm it before I really said anything. I've watched hundreds of hours of pool a lot of which was on Diamonds with Simonis, and I've never seen the roll-offs like I've seen this week. It's a logical assumption to make that it probably isn't the cloth or table. Also, we've seen some tournaments played with the Cyclop ball set with the measles cueball, and I didn't notice roll-offs then either. Might be time to go back to the drawing board with the Cyclop cueball.

Unless you have to go a couple rails or more for position. For at the end of those shots the cue ball
will be rolling slow. There are many times when this comes up. The point is you should be able to play
what ever shots or safety's your capable of and not have to worry about whether the cue ball rolls correctly or not.

Efern was showing the TD something with the table...either the cloth or the levelness of it. Mike D and Dennis were complaining about the CB. Shane, who never complains, complained about the MR. Products are all sponsors of the tournaments. I think CSI needs to look into this if they don't already know the problem and fixed it. Johnnyt

I apologize for my ignorance, but I have heard the term "ball skid" numerous times, what is it and how do I recognize it?
Someone mentioned there being a problem with pattern racking and soft breaking, whats wrong with soft breaking as long as it is a legal break? Is this viewed by some players as cheating or bending the rules? I can see why some would frown on pattern racking, all rules that I have read speak of random racking the balls, except maybe the 1 ball and the game winning ball, which to me pattern racking is not random.

Just curious, but did Dennis complain about the Q-ball when he won any of his 13 games or did the first complain happen after he was down 15-13?

Aramith has images of cyclops balls with air pockets in them. That would certainly makes CB roll off when decelerating.
