You’re correct. Most local tournaments around here won’t let anyone over 650 play.

top teams and players rob the money at tournaments. and really have no right to complain about any rules to slow down their wins.
that t.d. had to change the rules. its his tournament and maybe its wrong to change rules midstream, but he represents all the players wanting things to be fair.
and with the way it was as it still wasn't fair. even so anyway it probably wasnt fair to the others.
be happy they even let you play. and would you still have gone if the game was set up so you had the same chance as all the others.? probably not.

But that's the thing.... the TD didn't change the rules mid stream. It was before it started.

It could have and should have gone high enough. We’ve played plenty of these things.

I've read this entire thread and not once did the op complain about their rating. The TD should've told the complainers that he would make a change for future tournaments, but not this one.
The TD posted 1200 and higher get 5 chips,honor it. It's his reputation on the line and your word is everything. He made a mistake, people do it all the time. The good ones own it.
Yup. Seems like a major oversight to not have a couple more levels, especially with a known monster team around.
in one of the states i hang out in they had a great tournament with an A and B class. good players came from 300 miles away to play.

As a TD, to have world-class players playing in a pool room’s regularly held handicapped tournaments once in a while, I think is awesome for all the players to witness and learn from.
However, they must be handicapped tough enough to make them have to play up to their skill level to even have a chance to win it - no different than everyone else in the tournament has to do.
45 minutes is local in alot of places.
The closest pool hall to me is 45 minutes away by 4 lane highway.
I often wonder if much larger cities, how many pool halls are within 45 mins.
NYC, Philly, LA, Atlanta, Houston, Memphis, Orlando, etc.
I’m in the Phoenix valley (Chandler to be specific). The best two rooms in the valley are Main Street billiards in Mesa, and Bullshooters in Peoria. I consider them both to be local pool rooms for me.
As a darter and pool player, I really want to go to Bullshooters.
It seems to be the premier dart place around. The owner loves it!
