???? I hardly ever see ACE used these days.....and that is because it seems everything has an 'X' or 'tech' or 'tec' in it.
Just the word ACE implies the top, the best, the highest, the winner. It's a great word, with no negative connotations to it whatsoever, AND it has a great 'old school' feel to it. I felt it was a great word to describe Charlie, as well as describing the cue....so it's got great marketing appeal. Especially when you begin to play with it:
Accuracy
Control
Elegance
-or-
Accuracy
Control
Explosive
Either way.....it accurately describes the X-Breaker's, as well as Charlie's, qualities that make them both winners. Plus.....with poker being so hot right now.....just the word 'ACE' has great market value currently.
I also was working within the guidelines of what Richard was looking for. So I spent some time looking at the cues pictured, as well as watched the CB vids of Charlie breaking, AND kept in mind to TOTAL package (Charlie and the X-Breaker) when I came up with it. Plus, the name was supposed to convey an 'old school' feel to it, and ACE does just that. Back in the day, anyone who was considered the best at what they did, where often referred to as an ACE. I racked my brain long and hard, and even broke out a thesaurus and dictionary to help me come up with something that would be truly descriptive of both.....because, in the case of good marketing, you have to think of the two as one and the same. It's the 'hook'....the X-Breaker is 'aces' at splitting open a rack, Charlie is an 'ace' at not only breaking, but the rest of the game as well....so if you want to break like an 'ace', (like Charlie), then you'll get an X-Breaker!! It's great marketing, using a word that has only positives attached to it. It's short and sweet, and gets right to the point. And, it will be easy for anyone to remember, even for those overseas purchasers. ACE....an expert in any given field; to get the better of: surpass; a hidden advantage; (SYN.) champion, star, king, queen, winner.
Lastly, within the billiards/pool industry.....I found no production cues currently being marketed with the word ACE in their marketing strategy.
I did my homework on this one.....give me a break....LOL!!
