Subject username (now banned) threatened to kill site members "one by one".

He's known to at least one other member who stated that he carries a gun and is infact not just a blowhard, but, a capable and dangerous individual.

I petition this member to contact the people who have been threatened, and the site's administraters, so necessary protective action can be taken.

Failure to do so could result in charges of aiding and abetting/complicity brought against the member who knows username "CharlieL" in the event these threats become reality.

I think this is very unlikely that somebody could be charged under the criteria you suggest. I thought the "other member's" comment was idiotic to say the least but criminal because he knows the individual in question?

Is that a kevlar vest you're wearing?

Ribdoner makes a great point with his post. Nobody wants a fellow AZ'er to wind up on the 6 o'clock news. Caution is a virtue.

I too do not believe merely knowing a racist making death threats is sufficient to sustain a criminal case.I would hope that the "other member's comment"you referenced were those made by "charliel".I say take off his sheet, expose him to the light and let the Federal and /or State authorities prosecute.Whether or not he was serious or it was some form of sick humor his comments are criminally actionable.

The "other members" comments were made by CharlieL. Or was CharlieL's comments made by the "other member".

The world may never know.

I totally agree with you, on this subject in fact if no action is taken I will personally have a close friend who is higher ranking member of Homeland security contact the individual who claims to know him.

Since 9/11 threats like the threats presented here on this forum are taken very seriously. This is something that can not be tolerated or allowed to go unchecked, the individual who made those comments must be dealt with by the law and do to his threats will be permanently disarmed.

I don't think the individual who claimed to know "CharlieL" knows what position his words have placed him in.

I think you need to read the Federal Laws that outline a terrorist Act. This entire situation because a computer was used to convey the threat now falls under the jurisdiction of Home Land Security. In addition it also is a Federal Crime under the new laws, so please research things before you speak, you will feel better about it later.

No disrespect intended, however, you are way wrong!!!

Thats why I put a question mark after my second sentence. I didn't know what statutes are in place for situations such as this. If you feel a need in contacting homeland security just do it. It's no secret you are in a crusade against Varney. Instead of throwing mud just do something about it. This situation is getting very old between you two.

I still feel it is unlikely any criminal charges would be filed.

I keep a .45 on my bed-where I'm t most of the time and have armed guards at my house. Not because of this guy. I also keep a gun within reach in my home office. Same for my LA house. I'm awalys armed after a close call about 6 years ago with a bugler breaking into my house.

You are also wrong, by making the comment that you know the individual exposes you to either cooperate with the Federal authorities or held as an accessory to crime. Now I am certain that if Kevin is approached by Home Land security and gives them the information requested that nothing more will come of it. But, the new laws since 9/11 that cover terrorism, which communicating death threats on a computer are covered under, give Home Land Security a great deal more power than most believe. In fact most Americans still do not understand how these new laws effect their lives and their freedom of public speech.

Have a good night!!!

There is no doubt one should be prepared to defend oneself. But from CharlieL, I have more things to worry about than a forum rambo.

First of all I have not joined in any of these Varney threads in weeks, and Kevin will certainly confirm this, in fact we have communicated by PM and wished each other well.

But the other individual who made these threats is fair game. If you think what he did was right that is OK, but Kevin should not have made the comment he made about knowing the guy. This set himself up and put him in the middle of situation he may have nothing to with. Now if this CharileL is really as bad as Kevin said when the law gets involved Kevin will have to give the guy up or face the consequences.

So either add something of value or stop making false accusations about things you know nothing about.

I believe Varney making those comments was not the most intelligent thing to do. That is a gross understatement to say the least. By all means what CharlieL had to say in his brief stay on Az was not ok. The mods dealt with him. I also don't see any point out of making a federal case out of it. I understand Varney threw himself into the middle of the situation on his own admission.

Having said that I don't believe having the Feds knocking on Kevins door over this is needed.

Anybody that knows about the net can use a proxy and cover their tracks on a message board. I can go find a Mexico IP and when the mods look it up it will show up as me being in Mexico. I'd be willing to bet charliel done the same, because some weird shit is going on IMO. I mean he just pops up out of nowhere and starts making threats.

I don't think so either, and I hope that it will not come to that. If Kevin knows this guy and I were him I would contact the forum members who were threatened and just give the dude up. Like a famous singer named Carol king once said "well it's to late baby now, it's to late" You Know I always loved that song. The words were spoken and they can't be taken back now, it really is to late, and there is only one thing to do!!!!!!

How many times and in how many differant ways do ERIC, BILL and others have to prove that spellin and righten proper is WAY overrated.

I used to think it was impotent too but I've been enlightened. There is NO sense expending energy and brain matter on shit that don't matter.
