CharlieL

I really don't think its an issue of me "giving up anyone" like I have some super secret info. Any smart government cyber sleuth will find it plenty easy to get any info needed from where he signed up with AZ then simply ask Charlie himself. As bad as many of you want me to be Charlie...it simply isn't going to happen.:nono:

How many times and in how many differant ways do ERIC, BILL and others have to prove that spellin and righten proper is WAY overrated.

I used to think it was impotent too but I've been enlightened. There is NO sense expending energy and brain matter on shit that don't matter.

Man, I don't usually pick on spelling errors but I just couldn't pass that one up. When I read it and saw "buglers" I damn near spit Coke all over my screen picturing a group of buglers breaking into someone's house. I had to do it. HAHAHAHA!! Plus, Fatboy seems the type he can take some good hearted ribbing here and there so it had to be done. hehe!!

I'll help you out so you are in on the joke and understand where their ribbing is coming from. Burglars break into houses. Buglers play a bugle, as in the musical instrument. That is what they are laughing about.

Anybody that knows about the net can use a proxy and cover their tracks on a message board. I can go find a Mexico IP and when the mods look it up it will show up as me being in Mexico. I'd be willing to bet charliel done the same, because some weird shit is going on IMO. I mean he just pops up out of nowhere and starts making threats.

I'm sure the Patriot Act took care of that. Even posting through an anonymous proxy isn't entirely stealth. Not if the government wants to track you down.

The person who was banned in my opinion is another member of this forum.

It is interesting that they registered on this forum in November 2006, wrote a few complimentary posts about a cue stick, didn't post again until yesterday.

There were 16 posts in total for "Charliel" since November 2006: 2 posts in December 2006 and 14 posts yesterday (July 2008).

This troll, who obviously is another member of this forum posting on their Aunt Dorothy or Uncle Chester's computer to have a different IP address, is just that -- a troll trying to cause havoc on this forum. It is happening more and more on this forum. I am 99.9 percent sure of one member who has been banned three times in the past on this forum and is today posting under a new identity.

What is disconcerting more than an Internet troll are the silent ones.

I was always told by my elders when it comes to guns that you shouldn't ever speak about using a gun on another human being, and most importantly, according to my Vietnam-era diehard Marine brother, don't ever pull out the gun and brandish it for show unless you are intending on IMMEDIATELY pulling the trigger.

I keep a .45 on my bed-where I'm t most of the time and have armed guards at my house. Not because of this guy. I also keep a gun within reach in my home office. Same for my LA house. I'm awalys armed after a close call about 6 years ago with a bugler breaking into my house.

I understand how you feel, I had a friend get beat up because she walked in on a meth addict robbing them. After he threw a bookcase on her (that was the last of the horrific beating) she acted like she was dead and he ran out. Even NFL players are not safe from this as Sean Taylor died from 3 kids breaking into his house and they just fired at him with his wife and newborn in the room. Luckily I dont have to carry my pistol inside as it stays in the car but we still keep everything locked up here. Places South of here are very bad with meth houses and addicts.

I do agree

I do agree with you, sometimes a free shot is just too good to pass up on though. Eric is a friend and knows I don't have any mean intent ragging him.

Funny thing for all of us poor spellers including myself, the spellchecker will find a word with nearby spelling most of the time just not always the word we had in mind! Nothing worse than having automatic spell correction on in something like Word when you are a poor speller. To make matters worse I spent several years as the Checker in charge of proof reading the output of the drafting department at a nuke plant so other people's errors usually leap out at me. Oddly enough nobody's own errors leap at them because we usually read what we expect to read. The hardest thing to proof is your own work.

Truer words have never been spoken! :embarrassed2:

I have a software macro program for my typing work when I am producing transcripts. Most people in my industry use a software macro program. It can't be used on forums, per se, but it is used in tandem with Word and WordPerfect software.

When this software first came in existence, a coworker was working on an FDA Advisory Committee meeting about Alzheimer's disease. So, instead of having to type out A-l-z-h-e-i-m-e-r-'-s every time the word was said, she made a brief form for it as a-l-"space bar." So, every time she heard the word "Alzheimer's," she just typed a-l and hit the space bar, and the word would type out automatically. What a time saver, I tell you.

The next week, we were all working on a Senate committe transcript, same-day delivery, and every time Al Gore's name was mentioned, she had "Alzheimer's Gore" in her transcript. The transcript was not proofed well, since it was same-day delivery, and of course, it got kicked back to the office with some raised eyebrows!

I hate proofing my own work. It is so easy to miss typos, et cetera, that I commonly make AND that spell-check can't catch. One example for me is that every time I hear the word "statue," I instinctively type "statute." Spell-check doesn't catch those boo-boos.

I love this kind of talk!

Good points JAM.

I was threatened by a member of this site not too long ago. It was not pleasant and something that is hopefully in the past. It is not the reason I come here.

I know the feeling, Watchez.

A troll came on this forum named "10truths," an identity created for the sole purpose to flame me. IMMEDIATELY, when their registration was approved, they created a thread and posted some unkind things about me in an effort to put me down, made fun of my appearance, posted some untruths, and also stated some unkind things about my relationship with Keith, et cetera. It brought them and their "friends" some pleasure to read that thread on THIS -- and I emphasize "THIS" -- forum They hated me that much.

Sometimes you have to consider the source. The vocal ones aren't the ones you have to worry about. It's the silent ones that will get you when you aren't prepared for it.

some things make me crazy

JAM,

There were some words that I knew how to spell but only when my mind was engaged. I would spell pressure "preasure" over and over even though I knew better. I also interchange words like are and or; to, two, and too and things like that. No idea why I interchange words that sound the same since I am not transcribing and certainly know which word to use. Some words that are very close to what I usually type become that word too like your statue and statute. I had to laugh about your worker's speed macro, I have had a few bite me in the butt but I did catch the errors myself before they went out. I have to admit that Alzy Gore would have been too funny for me since I am not in his fan club.

I have a little arthritis in my hands now and for four or five years it messed up my timing. I didn't think I typed fast enough to have any timing but "th" always came out "ht" for years. Made me crazy!!

The proof reading wasn't a big deal, broke up my daily routine since I had about three other jobs there too but it wasn't a way to make friends and influence people! It was a toss up rather the Drafting group or Design Engineering gang were going to lynch me first for awhile. They finally all came to appreciate my great skills and modesty. :D :D :D

Oh, I've got a kazillion typo stories. :grin-square:

One typist was spell-checking her WP5.1-formatted document and replaced "Honro" (supposed to be "Honor") with "Homo." And it replaced it globally within the document each time it appeared. She was rushing, trying to finish the job, and when she replaced "Honro," a common typo for her, with "Homo," this court transcript brought the ire of a Fedearl Court CHIEF JUDGE down on the court reporting staff. Every time the attorneys addressed the Court in the transcript, it was "Your Homo, sir" or "Your Homo, may I approach the bench" or "I object, Your Homo." :embarrassed2:

I still work in DOS and use a macro software called FlashForward, and I'd rather fight than switch to Windows. I love my DOS. :embarrassed2:

However, for the Windows environment when using Microsoft Word and/or WordPerfect for Windows, there are several macro software programs which work great.

Short Keys is popular. However, this is one I have been eyeballing to get when I cross over to Windows someday: http://www.pcshorthand.com

PC Shorthand is user friendly and easy to use.

For your typos, as an example, you could program h-t-"space bar" to type the word "the." Macro software programs are a great tool. In stenotypy, the strategy is to use brief forms or shorthand for words and phrases. As an example, every time the word "preponderance of the evidence" is spoken, I can stenotype p-p and get that whole phrase. :p

You should try the software program, Hu. You just might find it helpful!

Allow me to say:

You are mistaken.

I won't go into details, but guaranteed....there is no such thing as a perfect crime.

There are more forensics tools available to find out who you are than there are for you to avoid being found.

see, the stakes are different for me. You sneak in and post on a board...if I catch you....the consequences could outweigh the fun you had.

Trust though, if someone is causing trouble, I have several tools at my disposal. You may figure out how to pop back in once in a while but I can and will know who you are in short order.

Ask FL how successful I am.

SO that begs thew question.....

....who is charliel????
