Chinese all-in-one Magic Rack?

I've won plenty of tournaments playing with a $65 players sneaky pete so I'm fine with your assessment.

However, I've been using my cheap plastic rack for well over a year. If your rack only lasts 6 months then the cheaper racks are definitely a better deal.

"over" 6 months... So I really have no idea how long they will last depending on who is using them.. The room in Crossville was using them for over a year and I replaced them not because they didn't work but because I could. And I am very happy for your wins with a $65 sneaky I am sure the quality, workmanship and materials must be up there with the big boys... Just like the Dufferin house cue I won a bunch of tournaments with before I got my own 2 piece custom made pool cue and went out hustling people strange to me.... LOL

The issue is we DO outperform every template out there and we outperform a normal triangle, even the Delta 13, unless the cloth and balls are new... Then it's a push but only until some knuckle head taps the table and we go back to outperforming them....

When I bought my templates there was only one source, I believe. I bought them from someone on here when the first came out. They probably run them a couple hundred a minute. Johnnyt

What is your patent number/application number? Seriously, I like to read pool related patents. Not asking for any ulterior motives.

Not everything has to be covered by patent law... We have recourse outside of the patent office that is considerably stronger... but the patent avenue is being addressed as well with the new designs... Just waiting on educated opinion before we need to outlay the cash......

had to... I really did. I tried to leave it alone but... If you can't afford a penny a rack in use... You likely need to give up the game.. Free water.. free coffee... and telling us all how it used to be while you still have a G. Washington from 1973 in your wallet has likely closed more pool rooms than the DEA and all of the State Gambling commisions combined....

Well, you and your shills just about called me and a few more on here a lier because we said the original MR last for years. Mine have even been out in the Florida weather since the day they got here. Now anyone that doesn't buy an Accu-Stats rack is cheap, or more than a $65 cue needs to find a cheaper game to play. One reason new products don't work is because the advertisement says a product does more than it can do. You're selling a template to rack pool balls, not a FN spaceship. Johnnyt

I never said anything about how things used to be. I wasn't alive in 1973. And there are a lot of things that I can afford that I choose not to spend my money on. The last time I was in the market for a new car, I could have afforded to drive a number of high end sport cars but I ended up deciding to get a Porsche Cayman because I felt that it offered more value than the other cars I was looking at. Thankfully the car salesman at the Ferrari dealership wasn't like you or I'm sure I would have gotten an email explaining how crappy and cheap my Porsche was compared to the Ferrari California that I test drove.

I'm not knocking your product, I'm sure it does everything that you claim. But the OP asked for opinions on a different product and I shared my experiences of using that product. I'm sure you're only looking out for the OP because if he were to spend his $9 for a 6 pack of the "inferior" template racks and not be satisfied, he'd have to save up a couple more years to buy one of your "superior" template racks.

Anyway Sir, have a nice day.

As Solomon said, I am here mostly to hear about people using chinese magic racks and their experience with it.

I am well aware of the other, more expensive options, but I don't see myself paying that much more (remember that I live in Canada, shipping and stuff gets expensive real quick) for a rack if I can get one for 1/10 the price that will work just as well.

Hi all,

I've ordered one of those by accident via Amazon for around 7EUR incl. shipping for 6 or 8 sheets (can't remember). Yes, I usually do not like Chinese products because you never know of the ingredients. This one did not smell funny or anything, though.

So far it's been fantastic, the balls are 100% pressed together, the shapes are cut out so that the balls "roll properly into their individual place". The break usually has close zero impact on the ball rolling and usually you can quickly retrieve the shape.

Only drawback is the really thin plastic you cannot fold or it's dead.
We handle ours with appropriate care and shield it from heat and sunlight, and haven't had any problems here. Sticky fingers leave a spot, though.

I tried to get a Magic Rack here in Germany, but to no avail. And for us amateur players (no tournaments) it's been the best improvement in a long time for very little money.

Quit hating... it's a proper job they did.
Cheers!

Just an FYI as dies wear they end up not being consistent on cutting and there have been several recalls over the years on die cut templates when that happens.. Since we use polyester material Accu-Racks are actually cut on a laser cutter so the process is both more accurate and more expensive since it is not automated... not to mention the material is more expensive than the plastic sheets by more than a little bit... I tried the plastic and several other materials in testing our choice was about performance not making a chinese racking template....

You can compare us as far as we are a template but after that you can forget it... Our geometry and designs belong to us and are legally protected... Our templates work when others fail due to the cloth surface or the wear on balls and leave gaps you cannot fix.. Our templates also mimic the friction of the cloth so the racks come apart like they are supposed to and balls change paths relative to angles and speed....

So far people are getting over 6 month of use per template. Not sure exactly how many racks that would be but I am sure how many racks that is but lets go low.. 10 racks a day times 150 days 1500 racks.. so an Accu-Rack at most is a penny a rack.... Lose 3 races to 3 for 5 bucks because you got the rack stuck on you in 6 months and there went your 15bucks... You also have the tube/cap and insert involved in each set... Go price those items as well... Plus the time/ink and printer wear spent printing the sheet goods... then the labor for packaging.....

Let's not forget we also sponsor some juniors, tournaments and tours many with free racks... That's advertising as well and has to be allocated on a per rack basis... I would love to be able to sell you racks at 6 for 9 bucks but it can't happen when they are made here in the US and are made with the materials and processes we have chosen... I am sure I could have someone in china turn key them for me and maybe save some costs but that is just not who I am... Everything we make and will make will be made here in Knoxville TN aside from packaging and so far we even try to buy those items from US Suppliers......

And for the 6 for 9$ crowd... http://www.cheapcues.com/Players_Pool_Cues_C-802.asp

Players low end cue will run you 63 bucks plus shipping.. I am sure it be of the same quality in wormanship and material and plays just as well as any cue you can find....

The fact is that some people are willing to pay for what they believe to be a better product (and I'm only saying "believe to be" rather than "is" because I don't know of any objective testing out there); others will pay to support people that support the sport (which both you and Magic Rack do) and there are also those who will just buy the cheapest product they can if it is reasonably acceptable.

We see the same thing with tips, chalk, etc.

Your comment about dies wearing out is a good one (I assume - not my area of expertise), and I suspect that it is true that your product and the Magic Rack have better quality control than the 6 for $9 deals. The fact that many people have had good experiences with the cheap ones does suggest that the odds of getting a "good" set may be okay.

I myself have the Magic Rack. I would have picked up an Accu-Rack when I was at the SBE if I knew you were there, and I likely still will at some point. But then I like buying pool gimcracks, and think they are all pretty cheap compared to other things I spend my money on.

Just got my 9ball+10ball version pack of 6 in the mail. Holy smokes they're great! Took zero effort to rack em, and the balls exploded with a medium hit break

This difference really surprised me, I always thought my breaking skills were just lousy..... :p

Maybe I'm racking the wrong way with the standard plastic triangle rack?

1) Fairly new set of Aramith Premiums polished or at least clean on high speed cloth.

2) Roll the balls against each other a bit, carefully lift flimsy plastic rack up and if any balls move, use the rack to 'tap' them back into place (usually the back row needs this, sometimes the head ball).

This gets everything touching, does tapping make the rack harder to break open or something? I have great eyesight and it looks like they're all frozen to each other, why such a huge difference with these little magic rack things?

Not complaining :D These racks must do something else than just make them touch right?

What do you think the other magic racks are made of? They started as a paper, then switched to a plastic. They hold up quite well, all things considered.

I agree. I have one of the original Magic Racks still (clear plastic) that got heavy use and still works great.

Since this was bumped, I thought I might aswell post an update.

I did buy the all-in-one chinese magic racks. They do the job well enough. They take a lot of space though, and they crease fairly easy, so that's that.

I ended up buying the Accurack from Renfro since I wanted something more portable.

I owned one

Hello guys,

I just saw those cheap magic racks on the web:

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFgxMDI0/z/3G8AAOSwBLlVFSuA/$_57.JPG

Have any of you guys tried them? They are at roughly 9$ for 6, which is incredibly cheap. That model is also a combo for 8 ball, 9 ball and 10 ball and I was wondering if it would be different than using one only for 9 ball and 10 ball.

Thanks!
Sam

I bought one at the Reno bar box championships.
After using it ,if I could of returned it I would of.

I don't have a problem getting a tight rack using a good wooden or aluminum rack.

And I prefer racking the balls with a rack instead of some flimsy piece of plastic.

I don't believe the magic racks rack the balls any tighter then I can do with a regular rack.

I've tried plastic templates and Renfro's Accurack Solo. I'd choose the Solo every time. The plastic racks could never freeze up the balls in a 10 ball or 8 ball rack at the pool hall with worn balls. The Accurack Solo did. I bent up the plastic one on accident. No problem with the Solo. Only issue I had with the Solo (and it's really my fault) is that the tube cracked and the cap wouldn't stay on so at some point the template fell out and I lost it, but I'll probably order a new one soon.

A buddy of mine recently brought one of these to the bar. He wasn't very impressed with it. Iirc, he said that they kink easier than a MR and that maybe the plastic is a little thicker? I can't quite remember, but, yeah, was not impressed and went back to the MR.
