Classic cue auction - Burton Spain

Hey Joe, Obviously this raffle has been a success so far. What is next in the raffle section from Calssic Cues?

John

John,
I would really need to know what the ticket threshold is? If I raffled off a Bushka or Szam is 250 out of the question?

We are thinking a two cue package, we have two Michael Basone Paradise's. One is an all original, 5 veneer Spain blank Diamond King with the extra inlays in the butt sleeve, this cue has been in numerous publications, and the other is the converted Sampaio. Both have letters and both are all original. We also have literature on Basone to tie the package together. In our opinion its about a 9k package. But if we charged 180-190 a spot is that too much? I guess we will see.

I'd rather pay $250 for a Szam or Buska

I think the only Szam MK has available would definately push the ticket threshold.. maybe $ 650.00 LOL..

If I sold that out, I would probably have congestive coronary disease or something...

Ditto. The Sampaio is a loser for me, but I would be interested in a raffle for the Diamond King.

Well my line of thinking was that you can keep the DK and sell the Sampaio and be way ahead of the game. At least that is how I would see it. Because the Sampaio is the lower of the two cues and won't figure into the final value that much over 46 slots. JMHO. But to get a package of cues from that belonged to someone of note is a bonus. I don't know if I necessarily would split them.

Any pics of the Diamond King?

I would be in for the Paradise, Szam, or a Bushka!!!

You could use the last 2 of the pick 3 so you could sell 100 spots to keep the price down....I think 100 people would like a chance at a Bushka or Szam I know I would.

The Sampaio conversion is on the Paradise section of the site. Now we have a very attractive auction set up. The potential for the pair of cues and FIVE runner up prizes!!!!

Tonight is the night... One very beautiful and perfect Burton Spain cue will have a proud new owner. Good luck to everyone, I am not even in it and I am excited to sweat the megamillions with everyone. Everybody will be watching the red ball.

To be honest, when I saw these raffles I was a little concerned with the cuemarket and values. But if this is the stimulus that the market needs and you guys enjoy it, God bless you all. I am sure the winner, whether he keeps it or flips it will be very happy.

This is a Burton Spain, a historical cog in the cuemaking machine of today. A man that is renown for his points and construction techniques, that are still carried on today by Joel Hercek, John Davis and quite a few others that build the full splice. His blanks were so good they were used by Balabushka, Palmer, Paradise and a few others of that period. You all have a chance, to own a piece of history. If you look at cuemaking as an ancient empire. You can see that the old empires of Rome and Greece built their newest civilizations and buildings on top of their old ones, cuemaking in that regard is somewhat similar. Burton would be one of the early blocks of that foundation, influencing all the blocks above him. (If I had typed this earlier I might have bought half the field  )

Again.. good luck..
