A handshake? That makes a professional? That defines it?

I guess pool players are like doctors and lawyers? We need to hold them to high ethical
and professional standards then. Yeah, that will go down real well. No gambling. No alcohol. No drugs. We'll be needing blood and urine samples. ;)

Filler looked smug the whole time and was excessively celebrating every win. He celebrated with teammates before shaking hatch’s hand. At that point hatch doesn’t have to do anything imo

Handshake doesn't define pro..its about showing some respect .. this is not your typical pool hall high stake game this is @ world stage ..

And Filler showed NONE after he won. He went to celebrate with his team, before acknowledging his opponent. So, I have ZERO problem with it, in fact, Hatch should have whipered in his ear, "next time you wanna disrespect me in a match, I'm talking your head clean off" :) now, I don't want Dennis to pounce on him, but let that be in his head a little, because with his background, Killer won't know if he's bluffing or not ?

That's right ,, we AINT in Church ! This is pool fool !

I make a habit of not saying anything on the internet that I wouldn’t say to someone’s face. I don’t know you from Adam, but I would venture to guess you wouldn’t call Hatch a coward, nor spineless, to his face. IMO, this post is the definition of classless.

And to the “drama” of the handshake. Filler was showboating the entire match. If you’re gonna disrespect another man then I’d say you’d better be prepared to be disrespected in return. Honestly, I have no issue with what either guy did.

Shake your opponent's hand and THEN go do cartwheels.

You are not just disrespecting your opponent, you are disrespecting the sport.

A good lesson to learn for all league players as well.

Euro Trash UNITE. I mean, if Killer was upset, he could have come over and gave Hatch his opinion on the subject. But, he knew two things. He loses that argument in about 2 seconds, and the other is he knows he fugged up and started the whole thing, and realized not much he can say about it. Maybe he's not as thin skinned as you.

Bit daft are we? It's ok, I'm impressed with the amount of letters you typed though, you did gud.

as soon as he potted the winning 9b, Filler went over to his side and had a high five celebration with his team mates, not good etiquette.

when he finally went looking for Dennis to shake his hand, Dennis wasn't interested.

I don't blame him.

best,

Filler is a bit disrespectful. The excessive cheering after each rack win is a bit much. He was doing that shit after most wins at the US Open while other matches were still going on. Overheard a few other players express their displeasure with this.

Plus with him celebrating with his team instead of shaking Dennis' hand, that can be seen as disrespectful as well.

Is all this enough for Dennis to blow him off, I don't know. I would have still shaken his hand personally, but I will never be in the situation they are in. Filler is still very young and very talented. Hopefully as his game gets better and can also get a more level head.

Just my opinion.

Fellas, when did American pool players ever have class?

Not counting Willie, and those guys.
Class is not what distinguishes the pool scene

at least not the pro scene

Honestly ,why would corporate America sponsor these guys?

not even Cigarettes, cigars, condoms, perhaps bail bondsmen
might reach a target audience

We might need to reach out to the Bail Bondsmen

or is it just me?
Is it any wonder that no one cares about professional pool ?

Whilst I agree with you, in that players should always shake hands before celebrating in the Mosconi Cup players from both sides have been doing that (rightly or wrongly) for years.

The only time I can recall a lack of handshake before is after the very final rack, when the winning player gets jumped on by their teammates.

So, whilst I think the players should shake hands before celebrating with their teammates, this isn't a normal tournament and Dennis was out of line.

It may took 19 replies, but someone finally brought some sense into the conversation...
