For the action seekers ->

Cliff is here in Dallas. He is matching up tonight with Billy Incardona. As I heard it through the grapevine, they are playing 11/7. I might try to swing by later. If so, I'll give some updates.

Strange, I just got a Text that Billy is playing Scott Frost right now.

Again Billy is great at matching up IMO... playing Frost a great 1hole player and then doing it @ home.

i think the spot plus the home table is a great equalizer... ;)

I watched several hours of Frost and Billy playing one-hole at DCC with, I believe this same spot. Frost got the better of it. But it wasn't a rout.
Lotta fun to watch.

Billy and Cliff quit before I got there. I heard Billy ended up 4 ahead.

Then low and behold, Scott Frost walked in. Lucky I had my race camera in the car. I have almost 2 hours of video from the front row. I'll post some games when I get the video converted.

BTW, it was a pretty good match-up!

Who won between Pickle & Frost and were they playing even?

Maybe Scott Frost is making his way towards the East Coast, getting ready for the Carolinas Open and then the U.S. Open. He usually attends both events.

It looks as if there's quite a bit of action going on today, Billy and Cliff in Dallas, Scott and Bobby in Tennessee, Chris and Ronnie in Detroit. Players used to just roll into town and hope to get played. Today, the modern-day action players makes appointments for action. :D

Years ago, when I used to travel, a road player always had multiple destinations throughout the country that were notorious for action. There's only a handful of these stops that still exist, but there's a couple good ones that I know about on the East Coast. ;)

Abundy, Morristown, which is where I see you are from, used to be one of those stops. About 25 years ago, we got steered there from Seattle Sam, a great player who was living in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the time, at Baker's pool room. Baker's in Greensboro was always hopping.

The Morristown pool room was located on the main strip in town. I can't remember the name of the pool room, but the owner's name was Frank. He loved action, and he invited any and all name-brand players to play him, always with a spot. He didn't care who you were. He enjoyed playing the big guns in front of a full crowd of onlookers. :p

What was unique about the Morristown pool room is that he had an archery range inside where you could actually shoot arrows. I had never seen that before, but I used to shoot archery, and so I enjoyed that. While my friend was playing Frank, I was shooting arrows.

Unfortunately for my friend, he gave it all he had in three or four games. Though he gave Frank a spot, like most road players would do, my friend shot lights out, and Frank soon pulled up. So we made only a modest score. Other players who came to play Frank would leave town with thousands.

Many years later, when I met Earl Strickland, I asked him if he had ever heard of this pool room in Morristown, and he knew it well. As it turned out, the owner Frankie was shot dead by his wife. There's a little more to that story, but it's non-pool-related. :o

I really liked Morristown, though I haven't been there in years. Of course, I like everything about Tennessee, one of the greatest States in the Union. It looks like today, it is also one of the best action States in the Union as well. :)

Billy had beat Cliff getting 11-7, 5 ahead in Mobile a month ago. Now, if what you say is true, Cliff lost 4 games to Billy at the same spot. Something tells me Cliff won't agree to 11-7 much longer! Of course one never knows...

The Frost/Incardona match should be a honey. I think it's a toss up.
