Cliff Joyner looking for sponsors

Beloit

Man, oh, man, that is brutal. So you did get $10,000 for the 2 balls? That ain't too shabby. :)

No, You don't get paid for the balls made on the break unless you qualify. To qualify you must make at least 1 ball after the break. Say I pocket 2 balls on the break , I must legally pocket the lowest number object ball on the table. When this occurs you may keep shooting or you can stop at any point. If you elect to keep shooting and miss you get nothing.
When I was going the pot was close to 100k. I did get 21 , It was 7per ball that night!!!

What's funny is ppl defending this and that and justifying and all the other bullshit are just hurting Cliff. I've raised a lot of money for a lot of things I also donate generously. You get more bees with honey. Stick to promoting him as a great player in need and you win. All the defense comments come across as arrogant and entitled be them founded or not.

You gotta realize the negative ppl won't help out anyway, ignoring them is the best strategy. Counter negative comments with thank yous to the supporters that's the best shot. I don't think a lot of you rushing to have cliff's back did him any favors at all.

Not Just about Cliff

Mike, Its more about attacking the players in general for me. I am one of them. I made some different choices than others is all.

Have you ever defended your friend on this forum before? I rest my case.

That's fair but your buddy has set aside his pride and asked for help. I think the thread has to get focused back on that if he still is in need. It's a shouting battle now of the working man vs the player and in all honesty a player needs the working man more than the working man needs the player in this case. No one is winning right now....be nice to see Cliff win. I hope he reaches his goal.

This ain't about me nor will we make it about me....as I've done to you many times you're not gonna get me to go back and forth with you so I'm out. I was thinking about tossing a $100 in the pot but yes you killed that. I'm out of this thread no more posts from me.

You chastise others for coming to Cliff's defense, but I have read NUMEROUS post written by you on this forum in previous times in an effort to defend your friend, at the expense of producing an untruth, to boot. Sickening. I won't even get into the embellishment of a PM, so you could defend your friend. Save it for somebody else who believes you because I sure don't.

There are about a half a dozen pool players on this planet I would assist. I'm sorry but too many have burned bridges and want to forget about the past when they are in need at the present. And you don't have to burn a bridge with me, you can burn one with a close friend of mine and that is simply the same thing. That is sticking up for your friend's as well. We all make mistakes, I have made many in my life, but it is how you handle them afterwards is what is telling.

Here is one example of how you can do things right. I had one good friend from the pool world that was messed up on drugs. I understand the pool life is not easy and puts people in situations they normally might not be in. He owed me $200. He sold a piece of property he owned and before he left town, he drove 50 miles to come out unannounced and paid me the money. The next time I saw him was a few years later and he was still messed up, high as a kite. He asked me for money. I told him I would buy him dinner, I would pay for his rehab, I would pay to put him in a hotel but I wouldn't just give him money cause I knew what he would do with it. I wound up giving him $20. Two years later, he is clean and sober. I tell him I want to take him out to dinner. We are sitting there and before we even order he reaches into his pocket and hands me $20. I say, what is this for. He replied, I borrowed $20 from you and am paying you back. And with a big smile on his face he says that he may want to borrow money again someday and wants to keep his credit good. Believe me, he can get whatever he wants now.

This thread has a bit of everything in it! We are only missing a couple of key members who post on here to really get this thread going. In before LOCKED!

Out of curiosity, if this is not Cliff, who is it posting for him and why is he not posting for himself?...my apologies if that info was posted already.

Congrats to your friend...

Your friend is a rare one. Glad he was able to get sober and have good life ahead of him.

Don :)

I believe Frosty he is my friend. So is Cliff and I have staked Cliff and gave Cliff money when he needed it because he is a pool player and I respect the sport like anyone else who helps pool. As Frosty said though this thread is not about him or you JAM it is about Cliff. That being said I wish Cliff would of let Big Truck or someone else who tries to help pool promote Cliff instead of a guy who said Cliff gave him permission. I am done in this thread also. I would hate to be banned again by defending my friends. LOL Have a nice day and good luck Cliff want to see you get the money because unlike other nits you will put it in action.

Sometimes the silence of your friends is worse than your enemy's words.

An acquaintance

Mike, I would call Cliff an acquaintance more than I would call a buddy. He is a person I have be acquainted with a long time. We have never what you would call hung out. But I do like Cliff and a lot of other players. Some, not so much. And do you know what else. I Liked St.Louis Louie to. One of the most personable players ever, (WAIT)..
He was famous for the so called bite also. If you ever got (so called) bit by Louis, You got bit by the best. So likeable a lot of people almost died of bites!!!!
Until you have been there and done that,(Quit knocking the pool player, He is a working man) .
Most people don't have the balls to attempt this line of work, Considering now day's pool players won't bet fat meat's greasy. I have bet my own, Bet High, Against the best especially in the1980"s and early 90's.
I have also worked all my life, So I challenge anyone to tell me making a living on the road is not a job. Unfortunately, There is and has been no security to this line of work. IIt was compared to TiddlyWinks by a billiard forum know it all earlier while at the same time making light of the people who are the best at what they do. So anyone that thinks a road veteran does not pay his dues. Come and tell me that. And I will say what I believe. 1 Hardest Job= Pro Pool Player. #2 Every other job. I will defend what I think is right. Gary

I remember one night at the Sportscenter you were playing Lil Ricky races to 11. You were winning 10-1. Louie kept asking you to borrow $10 so he could buy a pizza. You kept telling him to leave you alone while you were playing. You would shout at Louie from across the pool room and then Louie would say something under his breath, causing you to respond some more. You lost 11-10. You really let Louie have it after that until Louie, who got emotional at times while drinking, started to cry. You guys hugged it out afterwards and you bought him the pizza.
