When using cocobola for the handle should you bore and core before tapering the handle or taper first almost to final dimensions then bore and core? thanx for any input. cribbeecues

The Coco will fare far better if it is cored while it is well oversize.
From there, you'll use the centers of the core to turn on.

You should always core first, then turn down using the core as the center. That way everything will be perfectly centered.

Have you ever assembled a butt with the handle already in final dimension ?

handle

I use a one piece full length core. If there are no points and it is a merry widow/plain jane, I make a "baseball bat" and turn the whole thing to .050 in. over size and hang it for a few weeks before turning to final size.
