On a flat faced wood/wood joint, Will a 1/8" linen phenolic shaft or butt collar offer the same protection as a 1/2" wide collar?

Thanks
Ian

I don't think so plus less glue to hold it.
1/8th thick cannot be threaded either.

I've used both 1/8" & 1/4" collars on some of my Hustler stix & never had a problem. I don't thread anything, so that is not a problem, with me...JER

I think it also depends on the pin you wanna use. If you're gonna use a "big pin", I'd go with a thicker collar. I had a very thin collar on a radial pin and it cracked on me (normal use).

I'm with Jerry. I don't thread my basic phenolic collars. I use .250" regularly, and .125" occasionally, never had issues due to lack of strength or protection. I thread some longer collars if made from a material that doesn't glue so well.

i have used as thin as .200" and no threads in Moose and it seems to be fine.it's not coming off either.
