I was deliberating whether to share this cue when it's done or update the community as it's being built...figured it's only fair to put this thread together to not only showcase the cue and the cue maker's talent but most importantly the passion that the cue maker has in showcasing his work as it progresses.
I was intending to do a Guess the Cue Maker thread but i think it'd be too easy for most to guess since Bob (Dzuricky) is one of the very few cue makers who takes very beautiful pictures of his work and process. To add he uploads great instructional videos of various building techniques on Youtube as well.
I got interested in Bob's work in 2012 but never got around to ordering a cue from him however late last year i saw more of his work in Macro (Close up aka Zoomed in) pictures and saw how tight his veneer works are. Those killer points plus his use of black paper between veneers got me thinking (mostly in the shower) of a new cue and design.
I finally got about to contacting Bob and got on his list. Bob is not only a talented cue maker but he is incredibly nice to talk to, we exchanged loads of emails and he is as prompt as my insurance agent.. there were alot of back and fourth emails and exchange of ideas and the rest was history.
My cue is still far from completion but i just would like to share the process with AZ as this is the first time i've been so involved and updated with the built of my cue. I was also inspired by JoeyinCali's thread about how Bob has this website which updates the entire built process.
So here are the pictures.
We started with the veneers. I had 3 conditions for the veneers, must have Chartreuse, must have black paper between veneers and must be BRIGHT!
Bob worked out some options for me and i it made the whole selection process a whole lot easier.
Eventually I picked this set:
I wanted a Bumperless Weightbolt for this cue (i'm a huge huge fan of bumperless cues with nice weight bolts) and it's a first for Bob to do engravings. He did one with his own machine and i think it turned out pretty dandy.
Notice there's chainlinks around the weight bolt, well there's going to be chainlinks inlayed on the cue as well.

Then comes the Amboyna Burl...I was originally thinking about getting some Honduran Rosewood Burl but i have 3 of those in the make as is and Bob told me he's got a beautiful stash of Amboyna Burl, he showed me pics and i couldn't resist.
