Mr. Bill?

What is the best program for image resizing on vista??

Bill Webb, right? It's me, Greg, your old bud from the 211 Club.

Congrats on your writeup in the InsidePool mag. If you ever want to get rid of a cue that something got messed up on, give me a holler !!

Anyways... try this program.. it's free and does everything. If you need any help with it, just give me a holler.. You can PM me.

Looks like you could use something with a speelcheck, too. ;-)

I use XP and LView Pro, but the GIMP works on everything, from what I hear. Does Photoshop not work on Vista? I noticed none of you suggested that, or I missed it.

Photoshop is quite a bit of overkill to resize a picture, don't you think?:)

In addition, it's quite expensive, unless you know places to get it, and then by the time you install a gig of program to your PC and learn how to use it......

There's programs, that the only thing they do, is resize a image.

Your computer should have "Paint"... First import the photo from your camera to your computer. Open the photo, right click on the photo. Go to "open with paint" then click on "images" then click on "resize"... I usually resize to 25% and 25% that's perfect for posting anywhere. You shouldn't have to download anything. Hope this helps.

Maybe.. He didn't say whether he would like to do anything else, or not. Maybe he has a kid getting married soon and would like to be able to edit the pics and make them look a little more professional, as well as cropping and resizing.

As for Photoshop, I don't use it, so I have no clue how much it does or how much it costs. I know a lot of folks think it's worth their dollar. My bro uses the free GIMP for everything and loves it.

Photoshop works on Vista (I have it woot woot!), but it's not free... unless you get it illegally. GIMP is not as powerful as Photoshop, but it's free, and it's more than enough to handle a simple resizing job. irfanview is great as well.

Yes to everyone...choosing software is like choosing a girl...or a cue...what works well for some doesn't necessarily work well for others...and you get what you pay for...(more the cue analogy than the girl, but it kinda' fits. :) )

I use PhotoShop CS on a two 64bit Vista machines and it works wonderfully on both.

If anyone ever has a photo that needs manipulation in any way, resize, cleanup, color correction etc. Hit me with a PM and I'll be glad to do it for you.

Picasa.

I will second the Picasa vote here since I like and use it myself...but it kind of annoys me that you have to export the image in order to actually re-size it. Oh well...it's a good way to make sure you have a backup I guess. :D
