Congrats to Ashley for 2nd place at the Ladies OB-Cue Tour in OK. Sunday. She had to beat Janet Atwell twice in the finals. She won the first set and lost a hill-hill heartbreaker in the second set. Ashley came with some great shots in the matches. With a bit more seasoning she will be a name you will see often at the top of the charts in the future. Good luck at the Open Ashley. Johnnyt

Is this the same Ashley that so many AZ'ers helped get into the Open with their generous donations? If so, awesome for her!

Both ladies played good matches. Taking nothing away from Ashley, Janet played some amazing shots as well.

This should be a good tune up for both for the Open.

Nice tourney Ashley and Janet!

I got to watch just a little of this tourney (thanks Shayla!!) and saw Ashley defeat Tara Williams. Then she commentated (quite nicely) the next match. I think Ashley has a helluva good game. And that pink shock of hair is quite an enticing touch on a very attractive woman. :o Best of luck in the Open!

I also got to watch our beloved temptress akaTrigger play and was quite impressed! Nice game Melinda, you got out on a number of tough tables against a savy veteran, Belinda Calhoun.

This OB Ladies Tour appears to be the triple nuts. I wish I were close by and could check out the play in person.

Way to go ladies!

Just FYI - Ray was in Denver and not streaming our event, we were in Tulsa at Magoo's. The thanks should go to Shayla of the OB Cues Tour for the stream! :) She is awesome!!

Thanks for the correction Melinda! Nice work Shayla!

And you're more than welcome. I'm not going to say I expected less of a game from you, but I think it's "inbred" for guys that think they can play, that most women can't hold a candle to us. Maybe I was thinking you got extra credit for your game because you're popular and hawt! Not so!

Matt aka KK9 <-- thinks akaTrigger could spot Mary A more than Frosty spots Dippy!

I hope Ash gets some practice in with the shot clock for this weekend. But again, congrats on the great result.

TKM <--- would like to let KK9L know everyone else has let Mary A out
from under the bus, why can't he?:p

Oh Tim, you pickin on me again? ;) I was just hoping to bring Mary out of AZB hiding, now that the dippy saga has run out of gas (for now) and Wheatie is still banned. All in good humor. :p

Re: slow play: Yeah, I agree the play was slow at times. But I think many players that are really focused on improving pattern play take longer as they struggle to decide the correct shot. When they immediately see the correct shot, I don't think they burn the clock. IMO.

I watched the stream most of the day sunday and got to see ashley play 3 matches against janet atwell... she lost the first, but it was obvious she was having some fundamental problems - jumping up too early was the biggest. Although in her first set for the finals, she played really well, staying down, making some incredible kick shots. The 2nd set, she was out for blood, and made some OMG-ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! kick shots. Janet struggled the first half with poor safeties, but finally gained her composure and got the match to hill-hill. She made a great kick and got a lucky roll which sank the 8 and left her straight on the 9 for the win.

It was a long rough match, and I highly encourage anyone who didn't see it to watch the archived videos on ustream. Some great saftey battles as well as some excellent shot making. A real nail-biter to the end.

Congrats to Ashley for fighting so hard, and also - don't forget, Congrats to Janet Atwell for grinding it out!

No, no. I wasn't saying that as a criticism of the pace of play. Ash got sponsored (My $$ wasn't good enough:() to play in the US Women's Open & since they use WPBA rules, a 30-second shot clock is placed on matches running behind & used in the TV rounds. I've seen firsthand how rattled players can get if it's something they're not used to.

Thank you guys for all the kind words! I fought my ... off and never expected to even get as far as I did!

Yeah, Janet played amazing and totally deserved the win, which by the way, she got second in this same event last year to Iris Ranola so she was on a mission!

Sorry for all the safeties, I kept going up to Amanda and Shayla and apologizing because I KNEW it was probably tough to watch...figured it was the only way I could try and get ahead against such a great player :)

Hey girl, never apologize for a game well played. You'll be well to release any considerations of your surroundings &/or friends while playing competitive pool. I thought you played well & stayed strong. It's nice seeing players dig deep. I congratulate the both of you for showing tremendous heart.

Definitely don't apologize! I don't think you were safing nearly as much as she was. You might have had her scared after those AMAZING KICK SHOTS!

Keep it going, and good luck next week!!

:) :)

Great job by both ladies! I am very proud of you Ashley! Way to stay focused and determined! Same to Janet! Both ladies are such awesome and nice people. :)

So what if we got home at 3:45a.m. - it was worth it just to see them so happy in the end. :)

Love you guys!
Amanda :D
