Austin won the 19 and under Jr. Nationals today. Its his first year in this division and he was required to play in it because he turned 15 during the tournament. He was the youngest player in that class, and I venture to say he is probably the youngest player to ever win it. BTW, he also won the 14 and under before. This is a great accomplishment for this young man.

While Austin has received much bad press on AZ because of his match with ER, I believe he should also be congratulated for his accomplishments. If he continues to improve at the same rate, he will be winning many more.

Congrats Austin, from AZ and your buddies at Hard Times.

After a few wins under your belt, the taste of sweet victory seems to help one's game accelerate.

I think Austin Murphy is still blossoming into a thoroughbred American champion. I look forward to reading about his future successes on the tournament trail. This is a great win and will look GREAT on his portfolio.

Hopefully, Rick S. will provide some pictures for us, as I think he was there.

If I am not mistaken he won the 14 and under division two years in a row, at ages 11 and 12. What a raw deal that he was 14 at the start of this tournament but had to play the 19 and under division due to the birthday during the tournament. It didn't slow him down though as he goes and snaps it off anyway. He will be a future star for sure.

I must have shot a thousand, or so photos of this tourny...Sent them in to AZB last night. If you look on the bottom of the front page, there is a link to some of them.

Congrats Austin

Wow, great set of photos!

Do you think you could identify the following players?

Nick Tafoya
Christopher Futrell
Richard Barney

Also, what is the little girl's name in the red shirt on page 2? I saw her play on Friday and she is very funny--she had a real take charge attitude (in a good sorta way)!

That's Taylor Reynolds. She's from Maine or thereabouts and 11/12 i believe.

She played Mika at the SBE and broke and ran to a tough nine which she barely missed. Mika took 2 pictures with her and had her autograph one which he kept.

I would say that Austin would definitely have to be the youngest ever to win if he just turned 15. Justin was 15, going on 16, when he won it in 2003.

Nice list of past winners & interesting to see the players they are now.

Don't see Richard's photo posted...

Pretty sure Mike is going to do a story on the tourny...I sent him the trophy presentation shots.... Richard is in them.

Nostoke is right...That's Taylor.

She's something else! She 's 11, and from Maine. I love the fire she has...she gets determined, and then that serious look on her face...and she proceeds to run out!!

She's something special. Between her attitude, and shotmaking, she drew the largest crowds of the event. It seems everyone was talking about her.
