He played very well in a field of monsters. he deserves the win.

Sorry if somebody else ran a thread for this, but i did not see it.

I watched all sunday til the end and i don't want Janie's whining about almost losing his money to overshadow Shane's good play.

I agree 100%. Shane played great in a physically brutal format against some of the best players in the world. He handled himself with class throughout the event.

Congrats to Shane McMinn. (Now we have 2 of these guys named Shane to keep straight) :D

Shane Mc. showed a lot of heart when he was down 20-19 (or was it 20-18) going to 21. It won't be the last we hear from him, especially now that he has a bankroll. The kid can play and he did for three days. He beat a field of bar table champions. And made a nice score doing it.

I'd like to buy him in the calcutta at the U.S. Open. Hell, I'd like to stake him. With his break and big heart, he could go far.

I'll second that. Shane played great. Congratulations to him.

Banks Jr. played great as well. As did Orcollo, Walden, the "other" Shane and a host of others. What a tough field to beat!

He was the last man standing and I don't give a flying "F" how he got there...he made it to the end and got paid. For pool players these days, this is as good a test as any and I enjoyed watching it.

Considering the millions of wannabees out here acting like champs, to me this is the real deal with guys posting it up and battling it out.

Any kind of action is better than no action and Theactionreport.com did a great job.

Keep it up, JCIN. Anyone who has been on the pool forum sites knows that there will ALWAYS be guys trying to post negative junk but just ignore them and keep on doing your thing.

What a great tournament in many ways. From my standpoint, being at home with my gimpy knee wrapped in ice and propped up on a stool, nothing could have been better than having this thing streamed into the house.

Shane played lights-out pool beating several of the best in the world in a brutally tireing venue.

This was a wave of the future.

Congrats to Shane! I sponsored him in the US Open around 2001 and he was then a super nice kid with a lot of heart. A few years ago we played around at some cheap one pocket in Tulsa and he reminded me of just how much talent he has.

He won against me easily, like a walk in the park. It's too bad that he hasn't taken the road to stardom that Shane Van Boening has but perhaps this win will be the spark that sets him on that path.

Good job Shane! and good job Mike. To be 19 and yet one of the last people standing in that field is quite an accomplishment. Regardless of controversy both of you had to come with some jam up play to get there!!!!

they both played gr8 at the end in a grueling format and i think both have real game.

on a slightly different note.......curly your a monkey.

I was truely amazed when he was in the final. I bought him in the 2 nd calcutta in Memphis this last fall. He is a great kid who has had a alot of hardships recently. Great to to him do this well. I have always been much more impressed with his big table game though.
