Congratulations Topeka APA National Champions

Duane Hinton...I suspected as much, although it doesn't make me happy to hear it. From your description of his/her action, the LO is definitely one of the "bad apple" league operators that I've railed against in the past. I used to be good friends with the franchise owner in your area, but I'm sure it's not the same guy these days. That's very weird about all those players being raised at the national tournament. When I was an LO, if a team had that many players raised, it was an automatic DQ. It appears things are different these days, and that's not good. What's incredibly disheartening is that the national office let this team even play, having prior "known" cheaters on it. Leopards don't change their spots...once a cheater, always a cheater, imo.

Obviously , the APA believes in rehabilitation.
that's why sandbagging DQ's recieve a two year suspension , and not a lifetime expulsion .
Clearly , the players involved rehabilitated themselves all the way to a National Championship !

You have my support... i'll be printing this out and making sure everyone in our league knows.

Apart from that.. those guys just LOOK like aholes tbh.

I wish I played that good!!!!

To clear some error's in prior posts, Brian Ramirez is the only player from the 04 and 10 that is the same. Only two players from the DQ'd team were on this team. One was a 7 and the other a 4. The guy running his mouth that says he knows all of us, doesn't. At least he doesn't know me, because I have only seen him (in the pool) there a handful of times while I was there. So i guess he must be going off someone else's opinion. I have seen him watch me play one time and I lost at a state tournament. Here is something that might make you go hmmmmm. Ask him what his son's different handicap s/l's are in different leagues. He is a rated apa 7 and is rated a skill level 4 in TAP. What is that saying, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree........

So your saying you have 2 players quilty of manipulating ratings and being DQ'D in the past.

Wish I played as good as people think I do.

Are whole team got dq'd in 05. That is what Duane stated. Only two players from that team came back and played. To answer your question, NO, one guy is a 7 and the other a 4. I got kicked out of the league and i was not even on the team. Are league operator at the time told people they kicked the team out that won the state tournament because of sandbagging the week after state. I was not even on the roster. I asked nationals and they said it was the state team that got dq'd. But our league operator at the time said it was for the following week, which i was not on that team. All i can say is that is in the past. APA is a great league!!!! There were team's that got Dq'd this year at nationals. So what I don't understand is why people our blasting my team. Don't you think nationals would have Dq'd us if they thought we were sandbagging. Did anyone watch us play more then 2 rounds? We missed 8 ball's and other teams did too. We could have easily gotten beat 1 to 3 different times.

Oh Brian!
I have watched you and your brother play many times. If you haven't seen me there it was your fault. I watched Troy dump his Topeka TOC match against Kent the moment the APA LO walked in the room. On the hill, up 4-1 and shooting he was on his last object ball when the LO walks in and he proceeds to lose 7-4. Way to go!

If your brother wasn't on the 2004 DQed team then I was given bad information and you have my apology for that. And if you want to start quoting sayings how about the one that goes something like this: "Once a cheater ......"

And my son? He went up to a sl 7 after playing and beating the LO (a sl7 and by his estimation the 3rd best player in the city) in an APA match. Did he or I complain? Not one bit. He beat him 5-0 in 8 innings. Whats to complain about? He is playing as a SL7. That right there should tell you and everyone else what my stance on sandbagging/cheating is. That was the night that three of my players went up a SL, but I never said a word.

Now lets talk about TAP! Who's team does he play for? Wanna let everyone know that little tidbit? Or would you rather keep it on the downlow so you can win a TAP national championship too? I have never played TAP and don't know the first thing about the league structure or handicapping system. All I can say is that my son is young and can be influenced. All I've ever said to my son was play your best and beat them so they remember it the next time. What have you and your brother been telling him to do?

Now I know you Don't Know me DUANE!!!

You people can write whatever you want, you can think you know what ever you want. All I can say is that APA is an awesome league. If you don't like the way things are run by them, well there are a lot of other leagues out there. Have fun and most import be carefull. I don't need to get in a pissing match with any of you. I just like to clear my name, because there were to many errors getting said that were not true. So have a wonderful day and most importanyly keep playing pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duane you seem to keep referring to my brother, not me. We are two different people. We play pool two different ways. If you have such a BIG problem with our League operator then why do you continue to play for him?

So exactly how many players from your winning team this year have been kicked out of the APA in the past. Ratings do not matter, if your kicked out your kicked out.

I'm not trying to hate or accuse anyone of anything, but APA seriously needs to take a look into this area. I mean a top 20 finisher in 7 of the past 8 years, with 3 national champions, a 3rd place, and a 5th place. Something is up. The chances of that happening should be unreal in a 'fair' handicap system. 700+ teams and I see some stats like that from one area. Raises some eyebrows, especially since i've played in Vegas, play in other leagues, and I'm surrounded by some talented people. I'm not a 1 APA night player, and i'm calling bullshit.

Go look at the archives

Take a look at the archives. Look at all the Oklahoma City teams that have finished well. They have a top five showing or better since like 1993. Look at Bridgeport, CT in 09 they had the Winner and a 5th place finish.

achieved my goal

I have been in contact with the national APA office. I have achieved my goal in posting this topic on AZB and will no longer post on this topic. It is my belief that honest teams in the Topeka area will now have a legitimate chance to EARN a trip to the APA team championships.

Awesome!!!!!!

Every team in Topeka has always had a chance in making it to Nationals out of Topeka. You act like my team wins the spot every year. Im just glad you achieved your goal. I guess my only question to you is, have you ever been to APA nationals and watched a match? It was nice posting with you. Maybe my team will be playing your next session, i'm thinking of moving one of my teams to Lawrence:D

Plays as a 7 in APA for his father and a 4 in TAP with you. Seems as you, Chumba, is the one that promotes sandbagging.

Do just exactly that . You might find their LO less obliging , and those handicaps may end up even higher. Playing in two regions at once is the ultimate gamble for a sandgagger who has been outed . . . .

Chumba, you avoiding this question?
