Corey Deuel

I don't know how many of you remember the fancy wrapless heavily inlaid Viking cue that Corey used with a predator shaft, but that cue and shaft seemed to be what he was using when he was playing his best. He used that fancy Viking cue when he beat Mika 11-0 in the finals of the US Open.

James

When his deal with Viking was over, not renwewed, whatever it was (???) that fancy Viking got used as a driver at the driving range. True story, I was the to see the end of it's demise.... Pretty sad sight because he really did love that cue, it just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The cue he used before that was a Larry Oliver sneaky pete with no finish on it. He really loved that cue and maybe he should track it down and get it back (I think I know where it's at).

from what I can gather it's just a question of drive/motivation for Corey.

Shame really as he plays the game beautifully and extremely uniquely.

He's also responsible for one of my favourite ever shots on video - in the US Open a few years back he made a spectacular draw shot to the side rail and back and prompted a near orgasm from Billy Incardona in the commentary booth!

hell yes i remember that shot, and promptly put it in my bag o goodies when I saw it, still one of my favorites

Corey use to play pool and practice everyday thats the biggest reason plus he has to much money honestly to hit balls all day everyday like he use to...if he goes broke he will play perefect gain haha

In his prime he did something i dont think any other american could ever do which was beat efren when he played jam up at rotation..no american could ever do that...

He's Ranked 4th in the BCA points list!

I don't understand why you guys think he is not playing well!

Because compared to the way he is capable of playing he is playing very bad. If he's right, can't none of them saps win....

Saw,

You could say that about just about any of the top players.

Nobody operates at 110% all the time. When they do, they win everything like Mika is doing now. But the competition is so close that if they drop just a little bit, somebody else passes them by.

These tournaments have allot of variables. If you think about it, races to 7, 9, or 11 are really short. Double elimination means one guy can get a good draw and another a tough one. Some tables rack better than others and if you get on a few bad tables while you are going through the brackets you are at a disadvantage compared to some one else who was, just by chance, on tables that racked very good.

All in all, it takes a little more than just playing good to dominate. The planets have to align for you! Don't get me wrong, you have to play, and play very strong or you will miss it when the opportunity comes your way.

This is one reason I like the long challenge matches that TAR does. Each player can have some ups and downs and the overall best player wins.

Just my thoughts
