Country Calvin/ prostate cancer surgery

Prayer said. Luckily it is contained in the prostate. By the time mine was caught it had gotten outside the prostate into the margins. That was way back in 1995. Cancer came back late 98 and I had 39 days of radiation, which is normally the next step after having had surgery. Came back again in 2001 and I have been on Lupron injections ever since. That is 18 yrs and I feel great. I'm sure that you and your brother will have many, many good times ahead of you! Make the most of them.

Tell Calvin to hurry up and get better so we can play a "20 Ahead" set.

Tell Calvin to hurry up and get better so we can play a "20 Ahead" set (Roll Out of course;)). Calvin's the toughest "hombre" I"ve ever encountered on the bar table. I still remember after playing for 5 straight days in Hutchinson Ks. Calvin came in my hotel room and was doing push ups......talk about endurance! Best Wishes "Country Calvin"....may the Grace of Recovery be with you. God Bless

My brother Country Calvin has recently found out that he has prostate cancer.

Calvin has undergone a battery of test and the good news is that the cancer is confined to the prostate only and hasn't spread to any of his orgins, but you never know about this, I ask all of you who believe in the power of prayer to send one upstairs for Calvin at this time.

Calvin will have surgery April 29th at the VA. in Shreveport,LA., I understand he will be in the hospital recovering for three days after the surgery.

I believe he will undergo some chemo later on also.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers inadvance for Calvin's full recovery of this disease.

Calvin's old friend and road partner when they were young , Mike Massey called Calvin and chated for about an hour on the phone, the call from Mike lifted Calvins spirts alot, Mike was doing an exibition in Shreveport,La a few weeks ago and heard about Calvin's condition.

David Harcrow

David, give my best to Calvin for a speedy recovery. The Harcows come from good stock, and I'm sure he'll be fine...Take care of yourself too, and don't forget YOUR regular check-ups. Sad thing about that damn disease is, once it is discovered in the family, the risk of siblings aquiring it, goes up..If you ever have to deal with it, catch it early, like Calvin did !

PS..Say hi to Mike M. (the Beatle,) for me, next time you see him..

Best Regards

S. J. Dick Mc Morran

Good luck to Calvin with the surgery and a quick recovery. He needs to get back playing ASAP!

Best,
Mike

Calvin feels pretty good I guess, he won a local tournament last night, but those boys in Texarkana play pretty good, they have had a good teacher for the last 20 yrs.

Lynn Smith

David, my thoughts and prayers go out to Calvin.

I was just at my APPA Arkansas state tournaments this past weekend listening to Lynn Smith reminisce about the old days. It was after-hours at Beezer's in Russellville, so I was dragging every story and bit of pool knowledge I could wring out of him. He mentioned you and Calvin several times.

Maybe someday we'll all get a chance to play a game of Scotch Doubles together. :)

Thanks man,

I've known big Lynn for for 35 yrs. and Calvin has known him even longer, Lynn can certainly tell you some great stories about his pool playing over the years, I know Lynn is a gentleman and the most honest poolplayer that I've ever met, and he is extremely hard to beat on his home court.

Lynn and I have gone to many tournaments over the years together, been to the Rack tournament in Memphis, TN. many times back in the 90's, back then they took as many that wanted to play.

This one tournament at the Rack had 176 players in it, the tournament was non-stop 24 hours aday, it ended on a Monday around noon!

The bad thing about it was Lynn and I traveled together and out of the 176 players , Lynn and I drawed each other right out of the gate!....of course Lynn beat me, but I made it to the top 32 and had Richie Richerson down 5 zip going to 7 , but lost to him, had a great time though!

Lynn and I had part of Jack Hynes in the calcutta and he won, so we did OK!

That was a fun tourney!:)
