Crazy APA Match

Believe it or not, this happened at my match last week. These were our opponents.

Brother and sister are on the same team... Brother calls a timeout... Sister complains and they start jawing, seriously jawing/cussing/yelling.... you get the picture. Brother then grabs her around the throat and throws her down on the floor and gets on top of her, this is about the time I get over there and pull him off of her.

League Operator was notified, we still haven't gotten the final word, but it looks like he will not be penalizing either player, says it wasn't APA related.

Anybody ever experience anything like this?

NO! I've never seen that ... and won't again.

The BCAPL league I play in now doesn't allow for timeouts and the people are a little more resonable too.

Happened almost everytime I played. The only think you didn't mention is that not only were they brother and sister, they were also husband and wife.

Ok, I have to ask, did she make the shot after all that?

He left, she kept on playing, but I don't remember if she made the shot or not.

She ran around the place, beating on the walls and screaming.... I guess as a coping mechanism to calm down.

Crazy I tell ya ..... Just CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

That's rich, I got my laugh for the day just picturing this whole thing in my head.
You can't reason with crazies.........al you can do is ride out the storm..

Well, this should help you laugh even more.

Picture all of the above going on in a dive bar with 3 bar boxes, with one being smaller than a normal bar box and with a column so close to the table, a j/b is needed to shoot around it.

Sounds like you had a interesting night !

Reminds me when I had my lil Bar & Restaurant..We use to get some pretty good games of Pedro & Booray...There was this couple Reggie & Dianne that use to come play cards all the time & both use to like to drink pretty good...1 time Dianne was all in Reggie's grill at the table..really going off on him sitting next to him & out the blue He backhands the crap out of her & just looks back @ the rest of us & shrugs his shoulders all calm & says WOMEN...she gets up sits back in her chair & we continue to play cards like nothing happened..If it would have esculated Ida stepped in and aquashed it but it was like normal to them two.....Bout 6 months later Reggie comes in the bar with a new woman on his arm & introduces his new woman & says This is so n so...I left Dianne...I'd rather be with a ugly skinny woman than a pretty fat one...the new woman didn't seem to mind the comment...she was thin & had no teeth....Oh well...some people & their ways...got to love it...lol:)

Unfotunately, several similar things. Brother and sister on opposing teams. Husband and wife on same team. All out brawls between people who don't know each other.

It's a drunk fest on a week night. Things can and do go badly.

Fred <~~~ one or two too many bar fights

They fought DURING a match & it's not APA related?!?! Laughable.

WOW.....What a great argument for doing away with timeouts. I don't like the whole timeout rule in the first place. I understand it's "team vs team" but, when I'm playing against a SL 4 and they get told what to do by a SL 8, it changes the whole parameter of the game thus making the whole handicap system pointless.

Timeouts are necessary in the APA to give the children time to recover from their tantrum. ;)

I'm a SL7 and when a 5 or below calls a timeout on me, I often react in a similar manner because they always end up giving me some dumb shot selection or an obvious shot that I already see. :)

Ok, I'll make the suggestion that we do away with time outs. When everyone asks why, I'll tell them it's to prevent fistfights between siblings. ;)

Seriously, since the time out is reflected in the score of the match, it is also reflected in the skill level of the player. Do away with time outs, and the lower-skilled players would be even lower, but the higher skill levels wouldn't change that much (they use fewer time outs).
