Crazy big money action at DCC last night

Nobody can beat John giving him that game 3 games on the wire plus the the placement
of the 9 this guy can play he moves in this game very good.
I dont know if you saw the match but those kick bank shots and two railers that John made were
spot on every time he knows this game

You're absolutely right, the match was won the minute the game was made. No one in today's world could win with the game Dennis took, unless World wanted them to. The poker players came to the DCC with a sack full of money and a perception that all poker players were just novices when playing pool, the deck was stacked against the pool players and they were too greedy to see it. Yes, they were "drawing dead"

What I find shocking is:
-2 poker players mentioned here Hennigan and Schulman are not even top tier elite poker players (they won some WSOP bracelets but no main event win) and their earnings are already around $7 million
-Hennigan, a part time pool player (ex- pro player) can play with pool's top elite full time player albeit getting some weight

The rich millionaires from other sports (think poker, snooker) can come try steal lunch from pool players. Lose they lose peanuts but when pool player like Dennis lose $30K that is probably most of his prizemoney for all the DCC events he wins :D
Really sad state of pool. Heck I will go be a poker player

Its usually the pool player trying to edge the game. Nice to see a poker
player bluff his way into a 30k win. Kudos to him.

I'm glad you're happy, but you're also very wrong about Dennis. He happens to be a very ethical guy. He did quit an ahead set when both players were even, something many other players have also done, right or wrong. I've never heard anything about him cheating or not paying backers. Of course maybe you were there and can enlighten us about this.

They never play ahead sets in the PI, and Dennis thought it was all right because he had seen other players do the same thing.

You are right that I like Dennis. I respect his pool game but I like him as a friend because he is a good man, a very good man and a good friend, something that is hard to come by these days. He never talks crap about people he doesn't know like some people do on here. If Dennis ever tells me something about someone I know I could bet on it being accurate.
You my friend are 100% correct when you say that Dennis is a good guy, in spite of what some may think. I have been around Dennis for quite some time and have done enough things with him to determine the soundness of moral character that he possesses. On a scale from one to ten with ten being the soundness of moral character Dennis is a strong nine. Those who disagree don't know the man..plain and simple.

Jay,

The set that Dennis quit on in Tunica was race to 15. He quit when the score tied at 8. He did seem confused that it wasn't allowed but most had a hard time believing that a seasoned gambler wouldn't know the difference.

Having said all that, I have never seen Dennis do anything shady any other time and he has always been a perfect gentlemen on the table. In hindsight I believe Dennis was confused in Tunica. Yours and Bill's testimony carries a lot of credibility with me and I respect your take on Dennis. Thanks for posting it.

Ray

ps. Would anyone like to see this match?? I am considering doing a re-broadcast of it.

BigTruck, I had purchased this match live. Is there any way to watch it on an archive? If not, can I buy the match outright? Thanks.

Are you going to make the Smokin Aces One pocket event available to purchase? Ive been looking in your store.

To those thinking that Dennis got conned or didn't know what he was up against: unless he has no contact with any of his countrymen, he knew exactly the game he was getting. I remember Efren and Luat coming into South Philly Billiards to get action with Fusco, and I'm pretty sure they ended up getting some 1p action with Flakes. That was 1994-95.

They know him.

We are in transition on our video archive. We will no longer load videos on Youtube. This match will be available to view on demand soon. (maybe even tonight) You will be able to view it or download it.

It is first on the list for the new video platform. It was over 37gb of data but most of it is already uploaded. Won;t be long.

Efren and crew were always there for a few weeks before, and a few weeks after the U.S. open cause they were staying at Lebron's place. All of the Pinoy heavy hitters knew who Flakes was.
Guaranteed they saw this game several times, and i know Efren played a similar "10 frozen to the TOP rail" game at least once.
And people often forget that Flakes was mentioned in the book "Playing Off The Rail" when Billy mentioned him playing real high, and them coming to town to look for him.
I guess that's the new hustle. Drop off the scene for a while, then pop back in here and there for a score.

Ive told this story before. I told John (Cornflakes) that Efren would be coming in to our place in LA to gamble with some locals. John drove down there by himself and asked Efren and the Filipino contingent if they wanted to play one ball. Efren would give Johnny the side pocket plus the corner pocket. Efren would have the other corner pocket. Efren shook his head and said no. Then John turned it around and said "Ok Efren you got the corner and side and I got one corner but you give me odds on the money". Efren would not budge in his seat.
John was carrying large and wanted to play but Efren wouldn't.
This was a year ago.
John never dropped out of pool. He always is in action. . Poker is just more profitable for him. $10K is one buy in for a major poker tournament. Where can he get that kind of pool action on a weekly basis
$30K is a day in the life of high rolling gamblers.
For Dennis and most pool players $30K is their life.

Great post Johnny World played like world beater at this game a lot of the games came down to last 9 ball like one ball one pocket but cross corner pockets and the shots and moves he made were amazing and Dennis was just flat out played.

Ray has this match up on VOD and for less than 6 bucks you get to sweat one of the best gamblers on the planet playing maybe the best pool player on the planet in a big money action match great deal great match you wont be disappointed.

Thanks for posting Terry. Flakes was a really cool guy to work with. I really enjoyed all the poker guys who got in the grease. Classy bunch who liked to mix it up big time.
