Cross banking question

I have taken up one pocket lately and have fallen in love with the game. Cross banks into your pocket come up all of the time. I've always used the logic that if you can shoot the cue ball past the object ball into your opponents pocket, you can dodge the double kiss. However, there seem to be situations where you can "dodge" the double kiss by using outside or inside. I see the one pocket greats doing this all of the time.

My question is (ignore position play) what cross banks should you put outside on and which ones should you use inside on? And how do you know when a cross bank won't double kiss? Thanks in advance!

Great question! Just started playing some one pkt myself. I'm having trouble with the long bank (head rail to my pocket)

I tend to use outside on the cross corner bank. I've been playing with the owner of the room and I have picked up a lot of shots already!

I would point to a very good Dr. Dave video on this, but I'll wait for him to do it.

I did a DVD with John Brumback that covers banks very well, it is available on my site and you can find reviews here in the instructional review section, or by doing a search for Bank Pool Secrets of a world champion.
I promise it will save a lot of time learning.:)

Never mind...

Good topic, thanks

It's plain to see there are some top notch DVDs out there on bank pool and I'm sure they've covered all the angles.

As an addition to what you can learn from them, I'd like to make note that the DVD I'm now releasing EDDIE TAYLOR AND THE LEGENDS OF POOL contains quite a bit of information on that subject, by Eddie. The piece is primarily about Eddie, his HOF induction and the champions of yesteryear that graced his illustrious career. But he does take you into Bill Schick's pool hall for about twenty five minutes and shows you why they called his "The stroke of the bear". A sequence of Eddies 27 straight banks is edited together to give you an idea of what his record of that many would look like.
It's two hours and five minutes because I couldn't find five minutes that I could stand to remove.
But, maybe I'm prejudice. I loved the guy.
Keep it nice. Alfie

Where can one purchase this at?

After viewing all of these very good articles, books, videos, etc., now you should practice specific shots. Use some white paper hole protectors and set up a shot using the hole protectors so the pattern is consistent. Now shoot the shot with stun and see if it will go. If not then vary the way you are hitting the ball by using different speeds, English, follow, draw and combinations of these.

This should give you a base of knowledge and experiences for the unlimited variety of shots.

Here is a freebee

Go to my website under the Free Lessons:Bank Pool section.

http://bankingwiththebeard.com/?p=358

There are a couple of diagrammed pages of how to beat kisses (along with 17 months of free bank lessons that I had provided for the Inside Pool magazine). It starts in the Romancing The Stone, section.

This stuff is free. Just imagine what is on the stuff that I sell!
