Cross training for pool

Been thinking about this for a couple of weeks and thought I'd ask the question here. I will almost certainly regret it, but here it is: Do you do any cross-training types of activities for pool?

I laid off for nearly 30 years (55 y/o now) and when I came back I noticed that tennis, raquetball, playing catch with a baseball - anything that worked coordination between the eye and the grip hand - helped my game. If I know I am going to look for a match-up in the evening, I'll often spend 15-20 minutes playing wall ball with a tennis ball during lunch to prepare...instead of banging balls around.

Anybody else "cross train" for pool?

I watch pool videos. Seriously, it helps me. I guess that's not the same as cross-training but honestly I dunno that anything else helps. Maybe those things helped you, on the other hand they say being fit helps you too and those are all games for active people. Anyway try watching some top level pool videos or even an instructional just before you go out to shoot. You'll play better for a lil while.

I do some very serious, high focus, high intensity cross training for my pool game. I'm quite sure that some of you have guessed it right......I go fishing ;)

I'm not so sure that I can think of something to physically cross train with billiards as it doesn't require quick reaction times like tennis, baseball, boxing etc. There are plenty of things that you can mentally cross train yourself for though considering the fact that billiards does require a fair level of focus.

I agree..i watch only Effren Reyes and Jim Rempe videos..i layed off for
years as well and i find that watching these puts me in the right mind
set.."..hell if they can do it so easily..so can i.."

I'm thinking of doing some kind of warm-up routine for flexability before I play. Just 2 racks of 14.1 use to do it, but not so much now. I notice I play better in the afternoon than in the first 2 hours of the morning. Johnnyt
