Crown Cue Shipping Out for the Reviewers

Fast Lenny

Faster Than You...
Silver Member
I received the case kindly donated by John Barton and Sterling Cases to ship the cue around in yesterday so it will go out today. The cue will be shipped with 2 shafts, one is BEM and the other is a regular maple shaft with a Kamui black tip so some of you get to try something different if you never hit with a Kamui black or BEM shaft.

This is the list and the order it shall move around the country. I look forward to the reviews on it. I really like this cue and would like to let others give it a go and give some feedback on Crown Cues www.crowncues.biz who is sponsor of OTR www.ontherailtv.com .

I just ask you take care of it and you ship it off within one week or less after receiving it insured for $500 and signature required. The cue is in very good condition but it was my player so has some dings but not to worry as it will be refinished after it returns.

It is going today to asiasdad and will move on from there. Each member when they receive it needs to contact me and let me know that they received it and who they are shipping it to next so PM the person on this list who is after you. A person who has a * to their name has received the cue. Everyone enjoy and Happy Holidays!

WOW Lenny. You are putting alot of faith in the post office. Everybody better insure the cue to the next person on the list.

Good Luck

Cool, is there a review list that you'd like us to follow?
I know someone made one in your other thread and it was pretty comprehensive. Is that the one that we should follow.

I shipped it signature required and insured for $500, as long as everyone does that it will be all good, it cost my $23 to ship I think.

I am okay with you guys reviewing it however you like whether it is a list or just a write up on it.

Poolplayer2093 send me a PM with your address
so that I can ship Lenny's cue to you this week.

My simple review:

This is a decent cue.

I will rate it based on comparable cues
that I have had some experience in the
price point of this one.

On the scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best
I would rate it in the following manner:

fit and finish: 8
(I'm overlooking it's obvious scars from playing,
however the rings on each side of the handle can be felt,
and the OD of the shaft and joint are not the same
- a refinish could cure this)

shaft quality:

birdseye: 5
straight grain: 8

test drive: 9

personally, I like it's soft and crisp hit. I only play
one pocket, and the cue performed very well and
the ball went where it was pointed.

If I were in the market for a cue at this price point,
I would not hesitate in buying one of these.

Crown Cue Review

I was over at Danny's today and played with this cue also. The fit and finish on this cue wasn't very good since you could feel the SLIGHT variations of the ring work on the cue. Is the the cuemakers fault or did Fast Lenny leave it in his car (while it was hot outside) one to many times? One of the shafts seem to me to be poor shaft wood while the other shaft was very good shaft wood. I played with the better shaft and the cue seem to play very good to me.

Shaft 1 = 8.5
Shaft 2 = 6.0 (I would of returned the shaft)
Butt = 9.0
Balance = 9.0 (Very Slight rear balance but I liked it)
Playability = 8.5
Overall = 8.75 (not counting the shaft I would return)

I think Fast Lenny has left cue in a hot car one to many times and I can't blame the cuemaker for feeling the ringwork. The one shaft that I would return but I play with a Wes Hunter cue and he has the best shaft wood in the country. It will be interesting to see how the other Azers will rate this one shaft.

Thanks for the reviews guys, they are what I expected. The cue has not been abused or left outside but Arizona is very dry and can get very hot here. The ugly shaft which is BEM was given to me for free from Gene because I like BEM shafts, he had the piece laying around and it was a very old piece of wood, he told me it was ugly and had a sugar mark on it but I like it. Believe it or not I actually like the way it plays better then the regular maple shaft and just wanted you guys to try out the playability difference of the BEM shaft. After it goes on its trip it will go back to Crown for a refinish.

Curious as to how you guys liked the balance?, it is my favorite part of the cue besides the nice curly maple. Looking forward to more reviews. :)

As Bob stated, the balance was only very slightly to the rear,
not enough that made me want to take out the weight bolt
(if there was one, I did not check it), and after a few racks
my slip stroke actually started coming back to me

Cue being shipped out today, will post tracking number.

I think this would be good for all of us to post a tracking number,
so Lenny can follow his cue around the country

Thanks, it is nice to see it go to each of you and I hope you enjoy it. I do enjoy the reviews on it and I am glad you guys are being honest, they are what I expected so far. I should have mentioned about the shaft being a freebie from Gene because he knew I wanted BEM and he offered it up and told me before hand it was old and ugly but it plays very nice IMO and I wanted for others to try out a BEM shaft as they are not common.
