I'm a pretty heavy web user and know how to get around so I knew about the podcasts from AZBilliards. But I think you're missing the ball by not having it on the playbca.com website. Most players have no clue that there is a parent website (Company) to the BCAPL.

I do like the changes that have happened at playbca.com though. New links are up front and easy to see and noticeable. There's still a lot of whitespace on the bottom of the main page. You had mentioned that you're working on this though.

I've enjoyed the podcasts very much (and I've never listened to a full podcast of anything before). Keep it up.

Thank you for the suggestion...I appreciate the feedback.

We are slowly working through the website issues. It is a little slower than I would prefer due to the work required to properly plan the BCAPL/USAPL National Championships. One of my goals is by the end of the year is for our web presence will be completely overhauled.

Thanks and keep watching!

Here's my questions, and I hope I am not getting too personal. :embarrassed2:

Question No. 1: Ozzy, I noticed that you have a pet named Ralf on FB. Do you still have him? How does your family like the Vegas environment? It's quite different than the serene locale of Oyster Bay, Virginia. Oyster Bay looks gorgeous to my eye. Vegas seems like a busy metropolis. They are quite the opposite of each other.

Question No. 2: For CSI events, with the recent professional pool exhibitions being invitationals, do you provide the players the rules BEFOREHAND? I have seen some players commit fouls because either they did not familiarize themselves with the rules or the rules were not given to them. :p

Question No. 3: What do you think about a neutral racker for pro invitationals? Rack rigging seems to be an ongoing problem, whether you're the breaker or the racker. Would like to hear your thoughts on this. In bowling, the bowlers don't rack their pins. I think in pool, there should be neutral rackers.

Question No. 4: Mark, how did you and Ozzy hook up?

Question:

How come the question I submitted wasn't answered during your previous podcast?
Just can't afford the time to listen and not get answers

Was the question of are you thinking of having ang BB or big table events on the Eastcoast? Johnnyt

First: thank you for bringing Justin into the CSI family! As I understand it, you were instrumental in that hiring decision and I believe it was your 1st hire and a darn good one!!!

2nd: In a previous podcast you mentioned working on cross marketing efforts. I would love to see some record breaking numbers on the stream this year. Has the 250,000 members received an email advertising the STREAM??? Something to your members with dates and times and a agenda? Any Stickers placed on the folders advertising the stream??? Sheets inside the folder are way too numerous and often over looked, Sticker on outside of folder is hard to miss.

3rd: Have you decided to Stream some of the professional training sessions for those that can't be present? It would be nice to see the Efren Reyes & SVB question and answer group sessions. Not all of your Members win a trip to the play off's and offering them access to these sessions via the stream is a real nice touch.

4th: Member feedback and survey's! What does your members think about the pro training sessions and other "Value Added" initiatives not offered at your competitors league. E-survey's can be used and implemented.

5th: The "Value Added" pro events you provide your members should be an "EXCLUSIVE" feature afforded to BCA members only! I could envision APA players switching leagues to GAIN access to these "Value Added" perks!!! Dangling the carrot and enticing APA members to switch allegiances to the BCA!!! What steps are you taking to "MAINTAIN" and "protect" these value added features??? What is to stop APA from adopting these value added features??? Are you adopting any contractual language to protect and maintain your "Value Added" perks of pro training sessions and pro matches as a give back and perk/ thank you to league members! You are first to market and value pro pool players and should yield some benefit via marketing and enticing turn coat APA players to realize they get more from the BCA!!!

Thank you for the headsup on the Podcast Ozzy, have the link for the page saved in the faves

I have a few questions that I would like to put out there for discussion on the next podcast, if I may?

1. With the current problems with Pool in the US, do you guys in CSI think the BCA is doing enough to govern and promote Cuesposrts in America or is it time for something the BCA to go and for a new, functional and willing Governing Body to replace the BCA?

2. Have you guys in CSI considered having a team of designated tournament referees for major Pro/Am tournaments, whether is be for USBTC, US Open 1 Pocket, etc, and if so then how would you go about your selection process and how many officials would you be consider hiring?

The reason I ask this is because if matches are refereed, then it will help to stop alot of players yapping about the other player pattern racking, giving a slugged/set rack, etc.

3. Will CSI be looking to have larger scale tournaments in other venues throughout other cities in the US such as Chicago, Oklahoma, NYC, Pittsburg, St Louis, Tampa, etc, to bring back and maintain an US National Pro Tour?

4. Is it possible for a pool room outside the US to join the American Billiard Club league and if so, would there be some form of funding to help with travel costs for the 2 qualifying players to attend and compete in the finals of the American Rotation league?

Thank you n advance and I hope you guys are all having a great day there in Vegas

A thought came to me last night as I was watching a sports channel on cable. It was a TMZ sports show, if you can believe it, so it was filled with sports-type smut. :D

What caught my attention, however, was not just the conversion but the way that they were able to insert photos and sometimes video snippets of who they were talking about.

I do wonder if this capability is possible for pool podcasts, webcasts, and videos. I would think this technology, if available, would garner interest.

I have always said pool needs a personality, and this insertion of photos, video snippets, et cetera, would give a flare to pool podcasts, webcasts, and videos. I know it caught my attention on the sports channel, and I never watch the sports channel, but I stayed with it when I saw the photos and video snippets of *who* they were talking about.

What do you think? :happydance::happydance::happydance:

I think it's a fantastic idea actually. There's a lot of times where I'm blanking on a player they're talking about, but just putting up a little pic somewhere might be great. They already have the overlay ability with the names and whatnot - hopefully dropping a pic on that video layer isn't too hard. :)

There are many programs that will do this. Adobe makes products that come to mind. I'm not sure exactly what their current version of whatever is, but the one I used years ago was super simple and cheap (at the time).

EDIT: My old brain finally remembered the name of the product that I used before. It has been discontinued by Adobe (they have higher tech stuff now) but I'm sure the program can still be found and probably pretty cheap. The program was called Visual Communicator. Some examples of videos created by this program can be seen at the following link.

Thanks

If you watched tonight, you would have seen that we are starting to implement those things. With Justin at the helm, we will be able to greatly improve our Podcasts and tournament live streams. However, keep in mind that we do not have a large production staff so it will not be on the same level as Sports Center.

We will however, continuously improve. Thanks!

Thanks, Ozzy. I know it is too late to suggest this TMZ format to pool, but on the TMZ sports screen, they had a bar on the left-hand side that went from north to south with a listing of five or six topics that would be discussed. When the topic begin, a little button on that bar with the name of the topic would highlight.

What is cool about that is that you can look to the left-hand side and see *exactly* the topic being discussed. When it moves to the next toic, the next button on that bar that goes from north to south highlights with the title of the topic. Let's say a view is not interested in a topic being discussed. They can move the bar to the next topic and begin listening during the hour-long podcast and not miss the topics they are interested in.

These are only suggestions, which is what you asked for. I hope you do not think I am being critical. I am only thinking of things that can make an hour-long podcast more entertaining and hold the interest of the viewer. An hour is a long time.

JAM: I don't think you are being critical at all and I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching!

I sure am glad you're at the helm. You have a very pleasant disposition and project good business etiquette. This will help CSI flourish and grow. Good work, Ozzy! :)

Hey guys!
Thank you for exploring my 'Left Field' question
- shame you didn't understand it.
Education, education, education is the only way forward :thumb up:

Thank you again

Hi guys,

I find it interesting that you view a sponsor as an entity that will underwrite an event by offering exposure in return?

The model for this type of sponsorship has radically changed fundamentally over the years.

There are other types of models to use.
