I am hoping the heat breaks by then. I saw a blurb on the news where it has only been this hot for this long two times before in Vegas. The last week has been pretty brutal. I treat it like Sioux Falls in January. I just don't go outside.

The extended forecast for tournament time is 104-105. Which is hot but bearable. This 115-117 shit is ludicrous.

See you in a few weeks and I'll buy you a cool drink.

It's about 3 weeks away from CSI's US Open Pro Events and you can check out the players paid and registered already here: http://playbca.com/Events/2013USOpenProEvents.aspx I tried to attach it as excel file so it will be easier to scan over, but I'm just not that computer savvy... got an error message...file being too large to attach or something :sorry:

The list is for those who have paid in full. There have many who'd expressed interest to play but unless their entry fee has been processed their name will not appear on the list. So far for US Open 1 Pocket 42 entered out of 64 (July 17-20), 10 Ball has 60 out of 96 (July 19-23) and 8 Ball 54 out of 96 (July 23-27) as of today 29 June.

Having said that there are many spots available. So if you been thinking of giving it a try, you can definitely do so. You can sign up online here: http://playbca.com/Events/2013BCAPLNationalChampionships/2013BCAPLEntryForms.aspx Unless the event is full you can sign up until the night before the event.

Hope to see you there

Thanks for the reminder for this event.

If there is a more user friendly site than this, playbca.com, I have not seen it. They do it right.

Mark, do you know the numbers of last years entries into the 1 Pocket and 10 Ball? Looks like this year is shaping up to be a good one. Wish I could play the one pocket, I really enjoy that event and hope the setting is as good as the old one was. I enjoyed it more than Derby actually because every table was all in one room so you could see it all.

CSI'S US Open Pro Events: 1 Pocket, 10 Ball & 8 Ball current player list (fully paid)

Lenny,

Last year the 10-Ball was full field (96 players)
The one pocket got 54 (out of 64 man field).

This year there are still a lot of players who say they are playing.
We dont actually hold spots - so if their name is on the lsits, they are paid.

You can go to: http://www.playbca.com/Events/2013USOpenProEvents.aspx
and check out the paid player list. It should have sevrl new one later today.

This year will be interesting - lots of STRONG foreign players (including Wu and Ko Pin Yi and his brother) plus several otherrs from Taiwan etc.
Also 3 top speed events. (One Pocket, 10-Ball, 8-Ball).
$60,000 added.
Hotel is FULL - but all guests will get to watch the TAR feed in their room for free!
Players in the amateurs can watch the Pro for free - and can practice and play in mini events for FREE.
Amateurs will get free 90 minute GROUP lessons from some of the top players in the world - like Mika and SVB (and maybe some more).
280 tournament tables.

Gonna be a good one. BTW we are very close to last year's numbers in the amateur events.

This is a premium event and a must see for any and all who enjoy watching pool and a must play for any and all players that consider themselves a competitive professional.

I am particularly pleased that this tournament will have professional 8 ball now along with the 10 ball.

I took a quick look at the list of participants that have registered and while I realized that many do not register early I still decided to do a quick sort of the names in comparison to last year. Having started that and with the recent conversations in respect of Bonus Ball and the impact on tournaments I decided to throw that into the sort.

At this early date, in the 10 ball category, there are about a half dozen “star” level players and maybe twice that in the solid pro level category that played last year that have not signed up yet. One would expect that many of them will.

In terms of BB having an impact, if any, when you look at the full rosters, including alternates there are quite a few BB players that have not always gone to all the high level tournaments in the past; maybe better to win regional tournaments than to donate to the cream. Hopefully, their performance against the cream in the BB arena will give them the confidence to attend more of the top tournaments.

That said, there are 30 players (including alternates-18 of the 30 listed will actually play) on teams scheduled for BB that week end. So far, of these 30, there are 2 that have signed up for the 10 Ball. However, when you look at those not signed up yet from this group that played in the tournament last year there are several that one could reasonably expect to be coming to the tournament based on past history and the convenience of being there along with the effort to reasonably accommodate BB being done by the tournament.

Of the BB players on teams not scheduled for that week end, again 30 in total including alternates, 8 have signed up for the 10 ball so far to bring the total to 10 BB players signed up already at this early date.

For the 8 Ball there is no real schedule conflict with BB. 5 of the players scheduled for BB that week end have signed up out of the 30 that could possibly be playing. Another 5 from BB teams not scheduled to play that week have signed up for a total of 10 out of 60. This would seem to support the premise that we can expect more to sign up in the next few weeks.

In the 2012 10 ball championships 32 of the 60 BB players participated without there being any BB schedule conflicts last year. That would indicate to me that by the time the tournament takes place (factoring in those that sign up closer to the start of the tournament ) the impact of BB commitments will be minimal, if at all, on the attendance by pro’s. If this proves to not be the case then I would start to wonder if there is something else having an impact.

I am interested enough to do another sort at the end just to see. For now I’ll just look forward to the TAR broadcast and watching a great tournament.
