CTE testimonial

I saw huge potential in CTE after just 10-15 minutes with Tom Simpson. I didn't totally understand how to fully use the system but I remember making some great shots while Tom guided me through the steps. I went back to my old contact point to contact point method and shot fairly well but couldn't get CTE out of my mind. I pulled out the half page of instruction that I received from Tom and basically taught myself over again, I have been using CTE for the past two years solid. I have even over complicated the method by adding in a hip pivot while standing at CB address, this can lead to inconsistencies because I had no guidance from any source. I'm a fairly good potter with very little instruction in CTE, so I can't wait to see Stan in three weeks! Hopefully some of the inconsistencies in my set up will be corrected :)

Just trust the system and experiment. That's what I did, I've learned a lot of new things after learning CTE. Although I modified mine a bit. R to left pivot most of the time.

BTW - How strong does spiderwebcomm play? I have no idea but I am doubting he can beat the ghost basedon what I have read...

Ask Stevie Moore or Matt Krah what they think of the system :smile: We all know they can play.
 
Here is the thing I dont understand. All the systems are designed to bring you to the correct contact point that pockets the ball. Some are pivot required systems etc. Ive messed with them, and found some success with some of the concepts involved. On really slight cuts, I sometimes use a modified 90/90 if Im not seeing the line well that day.
But if you are starting at a certain point and pivoting into the "correct" aiming position, why not start at the correct spot to begin with? This is the thing that has confused me from the beginning. Is it that people have trouble learning what the correct shot looks like? Or do people need the placebo effect of something systematic bringing them to the correct point?

I can report that 7 years later I have won more games, matches, tournaments, and money games than I ever had before.

I have also gotten much closer to beating the ghost than I ever before due to the fact that I make more shots now.

But I unfortunately have not found any way to stop a lot of the other bad habits that inhibit my game. This is primarily due to a lack of practice and discipline.

You would lose your bet if you had decided to make it with me.
 
Stan Shuffett IMHO is one of the best instructors and people I have met PERIOD.

question: how do you use CTE with english? what happens if you need to shot with left/right english? all the information i've seen on CTE is moving the cue tip back to center.

if i need to hit with left/right english am i no longer using CTE?

If you can cut all shots the same and make them I guess you can use center ball on every shot and get all different englishes too...
