cue and sighting

I'm right handed and i have a strong right eye dominance. A lot of people say I should put the cue under my right eye, others say a should put the cue beetween the eyes ( even sighted). I'm starting to play with the cue on my chin between my eyes and it seems I'm aiming much better.
What should I do?

Stick with what's working for you. Probably Geno is the best guy in the forums to talk to on this. Maybe he will chime in.

i'm very confused because i played for years with my cue under my dominant eye. Recently i switched with the cue between my eyes and it seems like I'm aiming better but it could be those small changes that when you do, at first, you think you are playing better, but after sometime you realize they didn't change anything on your game. I don't know if you are familiar with that feeling.

Thanks Neil, I never knew to do that. Now, if you can get a world class player or former shortstop to chime in and tell me the same thing I will consider it a valid tip :-)

Gonna try this tomorrow or does it work on the dining table as well?

Do a search for Dr. Dave vision center. It's exactly what you are talking about.

I went back and forth between cue under dominant eye vs. under chin because those 2 options are the most recommended.

Well, found out placing the cue in between my dominant eye and chin gave me the best consistent results. No coincidence, that is my vision center as Dr. Dave describes it. Other instructors have different names for it, but Dr. Dave's article is the 1st I found about the specific subject on the web.

This may be screwy, but I line up my overall shot with both eyes, use the dominant eye to check my english on the cue ball, then shift back to both eyes for the final look at the object ball. My head ends up shifting or turning back and forth in my stance to get the lineups right. I found when I'm aiming with both eyes I accidentally go higher right on the cue ball than intended, but aiming dominant-eye at the object ball I miss left.

Eye dominance for aiming choice may also have to do with how close your chin is to the table. If my head is higher it's all with both eyes. The lower my stance, the more inclined I am to use one eye to aim.

Thanks for that, Neil. I just did what you say and, fortunately I guess, my normal head position is that one where the cue shaft split the extra shaft.

Do you use that one head position invariably for all shots, regardless of whether they are left or right cuts, thick or thin?
 
I am right handed and left eye dominent. I think my cue is under my left eye or close-see avatar.

i didn't get this part... lol... I should see the spare shaft on the right and left side of my cue ( obviously underneath)?

Hi there,

You can guess and guess forever and sometimes seem to have it right and then other times not.

Different shots create different problems for lining up the eyes in the right position. This game is full of many optical illusions that Perfect aim will help you eliminate.

Your eyes have to be in this Perfect spot on every shot. I will not only show you how to do this but I will show you how to correct your aim when you accidently get down and it doesn't quite look right. There is a reason why.

i am in beijing china right now and am anxious to learn about your system. among other things, this is the number one problem with my game. and, i seem to always miss the shot to the left of the target. problem is, i can't call you for another 2 weeks when i return. here right now it is 10 am on friday, for the est there, it is 10pm and thursday....go figure! hopefully we can arrange a time for me to call when i return to atlanta.........thanks for offering the help.......

I get excited everytime I teach this. I know what it will do for your game.

It's a cureall for alot of things we do in the game. Aiming is the name of the game Perfect Aim is helping players one at a time.

Obviously, you should always do whatever works best.

Concerning visual alignment and aiming, and finding the center of the CB, what works best for most people is putting the cue under your vision center, which can be found easily with a drill (see my visual alignment '11 BD article for more info).

Tried it, didn't find it particularly useful. Nevertheless a cool idea.
