Lets say your going to Valley Forge with 1000 dollars at the MOST to spend on a custom cue. Preferably new, but doesnt have to be. What makers would you be sure to stop by and see?

LOL! my first stop would be Jacoby ! but there are so many fine cuemakers in this price range I would visit most of them before deciding on my Cue! 
I'm wanting to hit a wrapless Cameli, and a Zylr, and a Sugartree!! I don't know why. I have a beautiful and great playing wrapless SW.. too nice to take to the ph. I also have two Sailors, both wrapless and I love the way they play. I have no reason to want the Carmeli other than I'm a bit compulsive about new toys. "I totally don't know what that is.. but I want it". Somebody stop me or I'll buy one of each sure as hell!!!
Great reply MrLucky. Just confirmed my tickets today for Valley Forge. I will be checking all the custom cues makers out multiple times I'm sure.
Gilbert would probably be on the top of my list, but will not rule anyone else out until I get there and see all the cues. My problem would be worrying about how to get the cue home, check it into bagage claim at the airport or mail it home.

No cues on airplanes in the USA sucks!
Sorry for the digression in this thread, but reading about the choice of mailing a cue back home or checking it in your luggage reminded me how stupid the rule on no cues on US planes is. I have not taken any of my cues that I cannot replace easily when flying since this went in to effect. If I can't put it in the overhead bin, it stays home!

I would definitely go straight to see Mike Capone, however, the $1000 may be just a touch low. If he has any plain cues with him, the $1000 may do the trick.Icon of Sin said:

The Super Billiards Expo is the best. First time I went down to Valley Forge, I was worse than a five year old, that gets told to go and get any candy you want in the entire candy shop! It's a good thing that it doesn't happen before Christmas, because then nobody else would get any presents, I wouldn't have anything left to buy anyone else presents!

Looked like a great cue for the money. Bob let me try a few hits on one at the Derby. Felt good. I told Bob the problem with his cues is the price. They are priced too low. Would have bought one but I just purchased a Bender.
Bob is a real friendly and pleasant guy. Don't know how he can stand there all day and be so friendly and keep a smile.

Well I want somthing with points in it that's not sneaky. It can be semi plain, just want some points. I saw a nice capone on Western Cue's site for 1035. I will definately stop buy Capones booth and see what he has.
The plan is to go to VF with 1500. Use the 1000 for the cue and the 500 for food and whatever other miscellaneous debris I may come across and some gambling. Room is already paid for.

just have the cuemaker ship it if he will if not purchase a mailing tube pack the cue tightly in it with bubble wrap and ship it insured to your home! Good luck and much fun ! Peace MrLucky!

Last year at valley forge.. Andy gilbert stepped up his cue making with some amazing cues.. he was deffinatly the hit of the show.. they are georgeous... he even had one that was like 10k and sold it like the first day...
i believe you should stop by them all.. and also there will be alot of resellers there with great deals.. and you can always wheel and deal..

I second this. I had them make me a slightly fancier cue than the Bar Cue. They did a really nicely figured cocobolo forarm and butt cap, with a nice curly maple wrapless handle. Single shaft. $675. Hits excellent.
