Hey, just want to know from thoughs that use them, is the cue extension that is built into the butt of your cue worth it? How often do you use it on bar box/8 foot tables? and, do you notice a rattle or looseness during your play when using it and when not using it? thanks for any input. Nate.

Nate, I have only seen one of these cues, and the one I have seen is very well made. It was made by Kevin De Roo in Canada, and is kinda a very high end cue. One of my customers has been playing with it for over two years and had no rattles or looseness with the extention.

All White in the above cue is Ivory, and the cue also has some Gem Stones inlayed in the points and the rings.

I have a Jacoby that Dave put one of these in-it works great-the turnaround was about 3 weeks and I think he told me that it would increase the weight by less than an ounce-I have had 3 back surgeries, and being able to reach a diamond past the side pocket is an advantage for a short guy like me-
My buddy has one of internal types in his break/jump cue. It looks just like the photos above. It doesn't add a lot of weight, and his only problem is that he forgets it is there and never uses it. I don't remember the brand but it wasn't expensive.
So, I Got A 10" 'Screw-On' The Buttcap Extension On My J/B Cue
The late Richie Powell, one of the original owners of Planet 9 Ball had a pull out extension in his cue, made by Ricco Cervantes around '95-'96. He used it ALOT, but he played on 9' tables.
I was going to get one in my cue, but the cuemaker didn't want to add it on aftermarket.

i have an extension for my mezz. it's not built in but i carry it with me. anyway i'm not what people call a tall guy, and unless i'm on a 9 foot table i'v never had to use it. if all you're playing on is bar box and 8 footers i don't think you'll use it much

First, the extension is not that long. I only get additional 4 inches, and like my personal life, I need more (inches).
Second, it's not exactly "quick". You have to unscrew, extend and then tighten the rod in place. After a shot, reverse.
Finally, I'm not as comfortable really hitting a hard shot wit this extension. It just doesn't feel that solid to me, in comparison to screw in extension or over the butt sleeve extension.

Southeast cues in Clarksville Tn have been making making these extensions for years.
